i held off saying anything because i thought you'd get it by now
lower volts ≠ better RAM.
i held off saying anything because i thought you'd get it by now
when are you guys gonna learn the lower the volts the better!?
Don't get me wrong, G.Skill ECO is good RAM. I just don't think that it's $8 better than the regular stuff.
Well thank god I didn't buy Sandy Bridge, LOL
I just realized I wasn't looking at a 3.3Ghz i7 9xx chip vs the i5 2500K chip - LOL!!! F that, there is no way I am buying that. When comparing the two they are very similar in Anands benches.
Whew
But you can raise the SB up to 4.4 Ghz which will then crush anything, including the i7-975 in all the most heavily threaded tasks. and for only $220
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/99?vs=288
the i5 wins in every test that isnt highly threaded. And even highly threaded tasks the i5 isnt far behind, and for $800 less? Im sorry the i5 wins.
If you already have the i7-975 then no it isnt worth it. But it isnt worth getting the i7-975 at this point INSTEAD of the i5-2500k. Not to mention the i7-975 is $1000
I'm sorry, I went a little too far.. i just don't think there is much of a difference in clock cycle performance judging from those benches.
