Without starting any type of war over what's better. If you own consoles as well as a good gaming PC, how do you determine which games to get on PC and which you buy for console?

I ask because I see a lot of games that are available on PC or are announced to become available later that are generally considered console games. My gut tells me that the PC game will be a port and a poorly supported one in many if not most cases. I also do really like my PS3 controller vs the Xbox360 controller connected to my PC. However, there is a side that says the PC will have better graphics(forced AA etc), possible mods, and maybe better FPS depending on the game.

So how do you personally make the choice? Wait for review? Only buy PC specific titles on PC?

I honestly didn't realize there was some titles available on the PC. Really only followed the major releases.

First person shooters and RTS on the PC. Sports games, racing games, third person shooters in the living room with the PS3 of 360.

The dog hates it when I'm on the PC, but doesn't mind as much when I'm on the couch playing the consoles. He can sleep next to me.

I have a gaming PC, PS3, 360.

I don't think I've ever chosen a console version over PC, but I haven't gotten around to playing Halo yet -- for that I'd go with the remastered 360 version.

I understand that some sports and racing games might have bad PC ports, but I don't play those.

My PC is powerful enough that I've been choosing that almost exclusively for the past 1.5 years I've had it. Even the ports are made better by modding and such. The only console game I've bought recently were the exclusives, like Twisted Metal, Infamous 2, and Rock Smith.

You know, I've been noticing that I really like the rumble feedback of the PS3 controller, though all the games I've bought in the past year have been for PC. That makes me think that I enjoyed Dead Space 1 & 2 on the PS3 more than I would have the PC.

Dead Space was much better on the PC. The graphics are much cleaner and plays much better with a mouse IMO.

I heard the mouse support in the first one was terrible. Can't remember if it was the sensitivity or something, but I remember a lot of people complaining about it.

I dunno, I didn't have an issue with it. I played it on the 360 first though and preferred the mouse when I got around to trying it on PC.

Having just built a new gaming PC that runs everything at ultra settings with AA and having an Xbox 360 controller hooked up to the PC, there's now very little reason for me to get any game on console except for exclusives. I got Batman Arkham City on the Xbox 360 for my roommate for Christmas, but we didn't touch it until I picked it up on a Steam sale a couple weeks ago. It looks far better on my computer than it will on the Xbox and the controller is identical, so that's not a factor... And now we don't have to fight over who gets to use the TV.

Well, you have games like Assassin's Creed which get very limited ports, also Darksiders which didn't really take advantage of the PC and didn't feel superior in any way.

This is why I asked though. Is simply forcing AA at a higher rez worth it sometimes...

Very hard to say and I suppose it would vary from game to game.

PC for FPS, RPG, RTS, Sim.

Console for Platform, Sports, Fighting, Racing.

I think that's pretty much the standard for non-fanboy types.

I constantly see absolute retards who are super console or PC fanboys who fail to understand that they're each better for certain things. Ah well.

I would just play everything on my PC if they were all tailored to the PC and no poor ports. Some ports are just bad (GTA IV), others are pretty decent but don't offer many graphic options.

I guess I'll have to pick and choose (exclusives not withstanding).

If there is a PC version, I will always pick that up over the console version, even if I have to wait longer. Not that time is a real issue most the time, I usually wait till I can get the game on a Steam sale for dirt cheap anyways unless I really want it.

PC = Everything except... Angry Birds which is Phone/Tablet.

I have PC's, a PS3, X360, Wii & several DS's, GBC's & older "consoles" like Amigas, Atari's & Commodores but the PC is the platform of choice due to the massive amount of flexibility & extras like Mods. I haven't bought a non PC title in over a year, I do get the occasional one given to me but 100% of my purchases are PC & will remain so.

Something like that, yes. I would also describe it as "laggy". The cursor acts as if it has mass/momentum so you can't move/drag the mouse the conventional way. Some timing and speed adjustments are needed for reasonably good accuracy. This is obviously to suit gamepad users but is just downright ridiculous for PC.

PC due to superior graphics and cheaper games. I only buy games that are massively discounted and with the likes of Steam, Amazon, Impulse or Gamersgate there is a deluge of cheap games available.
Even if not for those factors, my favorite genres are the 90s RPG type (BG2, DA:O) and grand strategy games (Paradox titles) which are often times PC exclusive.
About the only thing I would want a console for is to play God of War or Demon/Dark Soul.

Edit:
Regarding Dead Space, supposedly the method in this thread can fix that

The problem I have with PC games is that it's a lot harder to find them on the cheap since a) they are released later than their console counterparts often (likely due to piracy) b) it's super easy to find used console games and c) I really only want to buy PC games through Steam.

And silly me, I like my 360 achievements (single handedly the best thing Microsoft has ever done in their favor for cross platform games).

Sadly, there are entire classes of games that don't exist on the PC, likely because they rely on a controller for a good experience.

I usually play role playing games and FPS on the PC.

Platformers, racing games and things like Arkham Asylum I play on the console.

PC for everything except console exclusives. If I can play it on PC I do.

This.

The experience is almost always superior.

I own all 3 current gen consoles, as well as virtually every major console of the past 25 years. But unless there is some unique problem with a specific PC port of a game, I almost always find the PC version to be better.

I've got a 360 and will only purchase games for it that the rest of my old xbl friends play. Mainly just the Halo series (getting a little burnt out on that one) and the COD games (same can be said here). Everything else is pretty much exclusively for my PC, I've spent tons of money on it...might as well use it right?

I definitely prefer the PC version of GTA4. 1080p and 60fps on my PC versus 720p and 30fps on my Xbox 360.

Consoles are only good for exclusives. Occasionally the PS3 version has an audio advantage over a PC version of the same title.

I don't play that many games though, because no good display exists and lossy textures kill me.

The only games I buy for the 360 are the ones my kids want: Lego, platformers, or Guitar Hero type of games.

But even my kids know that real games (FPS) are played on the PC. My wife saw Black Ops for the 360 on sale a while back and asked my oldest son who was 8 at the time, if he would like that? His reply, "only a noob would play a FPS on a console". Ah, a chip off the old block.
