Exactly. I find it troubling that so many people here and elsewhere so easily discount the ability of those born into a privileged lifestyle to understand "normal life,"
Stop with the privledged crap ok? I'm a "privliedged white male"... I grew up in the same hood as the minorities where I was outnumbered 80% to 20% (minority to white.) I somehow made something of myself even though my circumstances were exactly the same as everybody around me. How does that make me anymore priviledged unless you consider everybody who is white priviledged? (such a racist remark in itself) But I guess the stereo type is if you are on ATOT, you are somehow a rich white boy...
Since we are talking about how priviledged I am...
Why is it every single time I go through the grocery store checkout line when there is a minority in front of me, they pay with EBT. I'm sure priviledged to pay for my own food. I think out of the last 20 times I've gone I've kept note of it, I think once a minority woman in a fur coat paid for her $5 item with cash once... The odds are 5% actually pay for their food.
How am I priviledged again?
you're privileged because of your skin color, you grew up in the ghetto that's fine, but people see you and see a white man and nothing of the "ghetto" you grew up in. A black man can be born into a rich, well off family, but in a lot of peoples eyes he's still a n***er who might as well be from the ghetto. You are privileged because you don't need Affirmative Action to help you get a job you're qualified for. If you don't see the fact you having white skin is a huge privilege then I don't know what to tell you.
And your example about EBT has nothing to do with the color of the skin, I see plenty of black, asian, mexican, and yes even white people! Who all are on EBT. Believe it or not, the government doesn't just give out EBT cards to anyone who asks. You 5% figure is so far off it's not even funny, and to use the fur coat as an example is pretty piss poor, for all you know that coat could have been handed down from her mom, or maybe it was a birthday present from their grandparents. Or maybe the person bought it a year eairler when they were doing well for themselves, and they fell on hard times. Regardless, way to go jumping to conclusions and making yourself look like a complete racist fool. I do applaud your honesty thought, I honestly don't think I could say the things you said, even if I did feel them.
