I've played guitar for about 7 years now. I've also played bass clarinet back in the days of high school. I can say I miss that class since it was the only one I didn't sleep in and never had homework for. Practice? Please... I did that during rehearsals. That and marching band... wow... can I go back to high school?

hey! I dated... well i use the term loosely, a girl who played the didjeridu (wow I had no idea it was spelled like that lol). She was european but went on tour and learned the dijoreeedooooo from a real native aborigine in austrailia (spell check plz). Not only does the instrument sound cool as hell, but the breathing techniques are really amazing. She could sustain a note for as long as she wanted. I'm sure horn players know it too. She could breath through her nose while still pushing enough air out of her mouth to sustain a note. Very cool instrument.

wahwahwahwahwaaaah

o btw I also played piano for about that length of time. I havent played in about 6-8 years and even though I play guitar and drums and vocals now, I am starting to feind for the piano. How about you? Miss it?

I started off in grade school playing the recorder.... I was relatively good compared to the rest of my class... but couldn't read music...
Then, I went to highschool... was sick the day we got to pick our instruments, and ended up playing the tuba... At first, I was quite down on the idea as I wanted to play bass or drums... but, after a while, I relaly started enjoying it... so I played that for 3 years in highschool and in a drum corps... Then, in my third year of highschool, I wanted to join the jazz band... so I picked up a trombone and ended being first trombone after 2 weeks in the junior stage band... all the while, continuing to play the tuba in our classical ensemble... Then, in my 4th year, some other guy (named Guy) came and stripped me of my tuba playing rights (and everyone agreed, he sucked... and I wasn't all that good on the tenor trombone (*cough* I bet that gives you an idea of how good the junior stage band was)). But, I still managed to get a spot as 3rd trombone in the senior stage band, and we won a competition making us "the best" in quebec at our age level. Anyways, on my 5th year of highschool, I switched to bass trombone... It was to be between me and another classmate for who gets to play bass trombone in the senior stage band. My teacher told me that it was going to be even harder than tenor trombone, but I didn't care, grabbed the bass trombone for the weekend, and started playing... although I would get a double buzz when playing an F, I still sounded pretty good... so, I got the part and the double buzz went away after a couple of weeks... and after a month, I was sounding really great and having a blast playing... by the end of the year, I could easily reach the G above the double high C, and right down to the Bflat, under the "pedal Bflat???" (I apologize, but being french, I don't know all the english musical terms). Anyways, so I find my range was pretty good... and I sure as hell showed the teacher that he would've made a mistake putting the other one on it... Mouahahahahahaha....

Damn, I typed a lot... my fingers are tired... I'll let them rest now... Cyall !!!

I have also seen people make then themselves out of plain old PVC pipe. Sounds pretty good too for what it is. You've probably heard the sound before. Anyone who's seen crocodile dundee has heard a didgerido. lol

It took me quite a bit of practice to get circular breathing down for the didj. It is cool as heck though to sustain a single note for an entire song. One time, I got to play my didj with a band at the Indianapolis Convention Center. There were 15 subs in front of the stage and the bass the didj produced was chest thundering!! I was playing guitar for everything else but the one song I used the didj on. Good times! I made the ones I have out of PVC pipe. It was super easy and super cheap (about $10 including black spray paint).

I really do miss playing the piano. However, I can't afford one, nor can I devote the time to playing. All my music time goes into becoming a better guitar player. Maybe I'll get bit by the piano bug later in life and start playing again.

In primary school I played the clarinet and base clarinet. Now I play a 12-string acoustic guitar. Lovin' it too!
