Play VCR Video on Laptop Display

I want to take a laptop display and use that to make a system for my van to show video from a portable VCR. Has anyone used a surplus LCD screen from a laptop and constructed a system like I'm describing? Is there some way other than having some type of computer driving the screen with an input from the VCR? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

WINTV-USB by Hauppage will allow to take a coaxial out from the VCR to input into a USB port. Most laptops within the last two years have compatibility with USB. Whether it is an actual USB port or a PCMCIA card converted to USB.

I'm not sure if thats what your looking for, but that'll get you both audio and video. To the laptop display.

Well, that's close! What I'm really looking for is a method to actually use a Laptop display that is detached from a laptop, and then hooked up to a vcr. Is there any way to hook up the vcr more or less directly to the LCD display? Is there a way to use some video device to go in between the vcr and the LCD display???

Any ideas anyone???
