How did this game ever blow up to become the most popular game on the planet beating DOTA and charging $30-$40 for a copy?

Too bad hackers are rampant as usual. What's the point of playing any multiplayer game nowadays when people are willing to pay for hacks. Fuck the mentality of today's gamers willing to pay for hacks.

The game is fun to play with friends, even when you lose. Good communication and tactics can lead to victory even against superior players.

I've not come across any obvious hackers in my playtime (lucky?), and I'm a little over 120 hours/15 chicken dinners in. If it's actually a problem I'm sure they will crack down on it pretty harshly, especially as the devs seem to be rolling in the dough and want to push PUBG as an e-sport title of sorts eventually.

I've never understood the mentality behind MP hacking/botting. I could see maybe doing it once as a 'how does this work' etc, but beyond that it just seems boring.

Love this game. Solo is great but when you play duos or squads it becomes amazing. No game ever made my knees tremble like this one. Everyone must experience a chicken dinner and a final circle, then you are hooked!

This friggin game is frustrating if I'm trying to win, but fun if I don't care, lol. Therefore, I don't care. Nothing sucks more than surviving to the top 10 and getting shot by some dork hiding in a bush. He's just hiding in a bush and there's no way I can see him. Not a chance, but that's not the worst of it. He shoots me, but I manage to run around like an idiot and find him and kill him first! However, by doing so I reveal myself to some other opportunistic noob hiding in yet another bush who then finishes me off without effort. Its moments like that where I ask myself what I could have done to survive and I can't come up with any answers. I was just going to die and that's all there is too it. This game is about 80% luck IMO.

Final circle goes like this:

Moonbogg kills noob "A"
Noob "B" kills Moonbogg
Noob "C" kills Noob "B"
Noob "D" kills noob "C"
Noob "E" kills noob "D" and wins the game.

It's pretty obvious: you have to become Noob "E." What does he do to win? Hide in bush? Looks like you found your answer. Don't run around in open fields during the top 5. Sit and wait. Obviously everyone is focused on the center and when they can get a clear shot at someone in the open, they'll take it. You just have to determine if that kill is worth giving your position away. Another thing is that if there are only 2 trees in the final circle, well you just found 2 people, huh?

This is the first game that a decent amount of my real life friends have all started playing, many of whom are all over the country, so it's been a ton of fun. At any given time I can usually at least get a duo going, if not a 3 or 4 man squad. Working together and chatting with someone is what makes the game great, not sure I would like it playing solo. In fact the only times I've played solo have been when I die immediately for some reason in a squad ... I'll stay in the chat that we use so I'm not bored and play my own game until the rest of my team dies (or wins? nah)

I have just under 40 hours logged in Steam and maybe 3 or 4 wins. I haven't enjoyed an online game this much since the old school SOCOM and SOCOM 2 for the PS2. That includes a little bit too much CS:S and CS:GO, though some friends and I had a brief stint playing CS:GO competitive games that was fun.

Anyone else have issues with the stereo in this game? I play with headphones and like when I walk there's always this' echoy' walk that sounds like someone else is walking. Also, at times the stereo seems reversed like the surround sound isn't working properly.

On the advice from several friends I purchased this mess. Loads of disconnections, buggy game play & audio issues. I understand this is an Alpha, but for $30, no thanks. Could not even play more than 90 minutes total. Refunded & I will try the free clone Fortnite Battle Royale. The premise seems fun, but this mess is not.

Fortnite runs much better than PUBG. It only has a third person view though. It also is cartoonish (if that bothers you) and the gunplay is less "realistic". At the very least it will give you an idea if the genre is for you. I can't see someone who disliked the core gameplay of Fortnite liking PUBG.

I've had like zero of that...ever. So while sure I'm sure there are plenty of bugs, etc, it isn't wide reaching and probably points more to some issue with the game in regards to your system.

My main gripe is simply lag which impacts pretty much every gun game out there.

love, love, LOVE the game....it is a breath of fresh air to go into a game as a casual player and everyone is generally on the same level...outside of general FPS talent. You have to drop in, obtain loot and kill everyone else to survive.

I watched some videos and one stuck out as to a strategy for the game. Don't go into the game right away to win, go into it for kills. Drop into an area known for loot, and attempt to work on your game play.

Don't try to go into win mode until it is around 20 people left.

The more I play, yes the explanation of how you die is pretty frigging accurate you shoot at guy X and just wind up getting killed by guy Y.

One solution is to be patient, knowing where that guy is heading or is stationed is huge in this game...using the free look functionality in the game is huge so your character doesn't move but you can do 360 view...that and a ton of luck as that circle shrinks...I have won a few matches, and it eventually comes out to me being in a prime location that left little angles to get shot at.

My big gripe on the game is duo and squad auto match getting stuck with non-english speaking people on NA servers as well as total f-sticks who kill you for your gear once you co-loot a location.

yes, its happening to tons of people. tons of steam forum messages about it.

Are you using a Logitech headset by chance? I have some of these issues with my G533 headset and was doing some research on it prior to leaving for vacation a couple of weeks ago. I do seem to hear a few too many steps occasionally and sometimes the gunshots are hard to pinpoint.

No, using a Turtle Bay headset. My guess is it just some way they are doing the stereo field though - but yea those things you mentioned.

I read somewhere (not sure how true) that at least in the case of Logitech headsets, you should try turning off surround and putting them in stereo mode in the Logitech Gaming software instead. I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but maybe you can try it on your headset too?

The community is super toxic, but if you play solo it doesn't really matter. If you need to get matched up with someone else, it's a crap shoot. I'd definitely recommend finding a group of friends to play with.

Bump. 1.0 release was pushed out of testing to the main game last night. It runs much, much better for me and looks a little better too. My buddy and I won our first duos game we played with the update partly because it’s now possible to actually hit people while they’re running. I found that next to impossible before. Have to say I’m impressed, I didn’t think they’d manage to optimize the game for release.

I like the new map. FPS is thru the roof now, and textures look better. Still a lag fest though...I didn't see the option to check which server you are on.

I'm completely lost: early access ran fine. Version 1.0 won't even load. Even deleted local content and re-download the 1.4gb of files and all I get is the battleye launcher showing up in the task manager for a couple of seconds then disappears and nothing happens.

Edit: After spending about 3 minutes on the PUBG forums, turns out my C++ files needed to be re-installed / updated and now everything works.
