Playing cards, looking for a deck. Possibly some new chips

I'v never bought playing cards before. I'v been playing poker with a cheap no name deck that came with my Poker set (Chips and Cards)
Now I want to add a nice deck to this cheap set.

Any recommendations? I really don't want to spend too much (They are cards :\)

Get something more durable than paper cards. I've used KEM cards in the past that have held up well (5-10 hours of use per week for 3 years).

My buddy used to order casino used cards. They had holes punched through but they were the legit ones used by casinos.

You should buy plastic cards. Much easier to shuffle, don't wear out as much (I've had one deck, and it's lasting me over 4 years, including a period during study time for exams where I'd practice the faro shuffle about 4 hours a day while studying for 2 months), easy to clean (warm water + detergent), the benefits are endless. Size doesn't really matter that much, but you do want cards with numbers and suits that are fairly large and clearly visible. Plastic cards are a lot more expensive, but I think the benefits are well worth the cost.

If your playing for money then you really should use a fresh sealed deck at the beginning of the game and replace through out the evening as they become worn. I get the 12 pack Bicycle boxes at my local Sam's. They're fairly cheap, less than $20 for the box. On most games only go through 2 - 3 decks so you're good for 4 to 6 evenings of poker. If you're just playing for chips then any old deck will do.
