You can seriously make some interesting builds with this game.. My favourite for magic using is "Earth/Storm", you get a spell that surrounds you in flaming rock (works great in legendary when the deaths come frequently). Dream/Warrior is the way to go if you want all damage..I managed to get 12000 Dps with that character (without battle marker or mods).

Great game, cant wait for Diablo 3.

On a side note I actually got into a big enough argument that I rarely talk to the guy anymore because he wouldn't admit that Titan quest( a game he wouldn't play) was like Diablo 2 (a game he loved).

Madness

I have never played beyond Normal. Are there items that become available on Legendary? What are the main differences between Legendary and Normal?

Epic & Legendary are akin to Nightmare & Hell in Diablo 2.

Monsters are higher level, you get better loot drops, different uniques and stuff. You can get Epic Pieces of Achilles Whatsit and Legendary versions of them too. You start with lower resistances also which is fun.

The only difference I can think of with my Diablo 2 comparison above is ... in Epic and Legendary, there are certain new Bosses hidden away in certain areas that will only be in those difficulties.

Hydra, Manticore and Dragon Liche are just three examples of these specific monsters.

"I have killed Hades 5 times already but still haven't gotten the Turtle Key drop (I am assuming it should be in the Purplish ball)."

I'm pretty sure its just luck of the draw in regards to the Turtle Key drop.. My wife was the one who got it, so I'm not sure if they were some steps she went through to obtain it. Its pretty lackluster anyways when you do get to use the Turtle Key.. You get to go into a seperate area of the first beach in Hades (right outside of Rhodes).. You go into a cave then into a castle.. In the castle you fight wave after wave of boss monsters named after the developers of the game.. For example there is a giant turtle named "Dave the Turtle"...

Wears off quick.. and is completely over the top for the amount of enemies they send at you..

Epic and Legendary are pretty much the same thing.. Just progressively harder... By the time you get to Hades in Legendary it gets extremely tough to stay alive.. It forces you to balance out your character and re-assess his attributes and skills in order to survive..

You get to fight the manticore (I call him panty-core) in Epic.. Also you get to fight a huge 3 headed dragon named "Hydra" in Legendary..They Hydra will be one of the longest and hard fought battles you will experience in the game.. He has a ridiculous amount of health and just goes and goes..

Fun stuff..

1. Is there a way to stash my stuff somewhere or do I only have my bag's slots available?

2. Is it impossible to apply enhancements to certain pieces of gear? (I think their names were blue or green).

If you get the Immortal Throne add-on there will be a caravan dude in every town who holds your stuff. But the TQVault program available online actually works better. You should still get the Immortal Throne because it adds a new class and TONS of new goodies into the main game. It also extends your game time by adding another region and megaboss and tons of little quests.

2nd question answered by ElDonPedros.

I expect I'll be ready to go away for awhile after finishing on normal instead of starting over immediately, but I'll be sure to back up my character for next year when I've forgotten the details and am in the mood for more mindless hack-n-looting

I don't remember, but that's a bad idea anyway. If you go straight from normal to legendary you will die horribly. You wont even be able to use any of the dropped gear because the level cap for it will be too high for your normal character.

Progression is the same as Diablo 2.

Normal -> Nightmare -> Hell

Normal -> Epic -> Legendary

Completing one difficulty opens the next one.

I got the Overlord (Turtle Key) on my 8th killing of Hades and got wiped out in the Overlords Passage (I guess I shouldn't have opened the cell).

I just started this game (I picked up the game and Immortal Throne in the Steam sale). My first question is do I play the regular game first, then fire up Immortal Throne? I figured yes, but some of the comments here have caused me to question that. Just want to make sure I am not missing out on anything by just playing the regular game.

Also, any recommended builds for a lazy noob?

Titan's Quest fucked me over. I was just really getting into the game when it started to become unstable and eventually unplayable. I retried reinstalling it and patching it several times but that did nothing. Turns out it's either the fact that I have a multi core processor or the Video Card I have doesn't play well with the game. Others with similar setups had stability issues too. Sad cause I would LOVE to play this through

Oh well I'm REALLY adicted to Dragon Age Origins for now though. Played it for 8 hours straight the other day LOL.

Got to the point where you had to quit too?

One of the problems with Steam I've noticed is that they are re-releasing a lot of older titles from developers without warning customers of potential incompatibilities. Many of these games ran fine 5 or 6 years ago but will need special tweaks to run on todays hardware. And in the worst cases won't run at all on some hardware combo's that the developers could never have foreseen. They should have a running list of "known issues" displayed prominently on the front page when you go to buy the game. These older games are not going to get patched so people should be made ware of issues before buying them!

BTW have you tried Dragon Age? It's a damn fine game!!!

Agreed. KOTOR crashes every 5 or so minutes for me and I just can't take it anymore. Really sucks because the game is awesome.

Too many games to play, so have not bought that one yet. I'll check it out once it's cheap.

Install both, but play Immortal Throne. It starts you at the beginning, but you get some nice perks that the put in IT. I don't remember what all they are, but I think there is a stash and some improvements to the inventory.

Those and a couple new classes are the main ones. And you're correct--once he installs IT, he should always run that executable rather than the TQ one.

We've already discussed the KOTOR crashing issue in many other threads.
Run it in Windowed mode. Set it to the same resolution as your desktop if you want it to fill the screen.

I know, I've been doing that, but it still freezes or crashes every few minutes.

Bringing this thread back to life to say that my coop group of friends and I started playing Titan Quest again (well, Immortal Throne really, as others have already mentioned above). I haven't played since it first came out in 2006/2007, and forgot how much fun it is!

I'm playing an Oracle (Spirit/Storm), and my friends are Warfare/Storm, Hunter/Nature and Warfare/Rogue, and we're almost through the first act... just started playing Sunday night, hah.

The graphics really held up well too, I was pretty shocked actually.

Anyway, if any of you 4 player coop groups are in a lull waiting for new coop things to play, I highly suggest giving TQ: Immortal Throne a whirl. Should keep you entertained for at least 3 or 4 weeks at the least I'd imagine.

I should try installing it again and see if it's any more stable on my new rig. My new rig is WAY more powerful than my old rig so it may be even more unstable than before for all I know. I remember it became unplayable in the second act for me before.

Instability is the reason I stopped playing it. I upgraded from a 2900 Pro to a 4870, and it made little difference even though it should've been huge. I'm running a Q6600 at 3.2 GHz, and I've tried all the tweaks recommended on the TQ forum to no avail. The last act is almost unplayable at times.

It's a pity, because I really like the game and was planning to play through all the difficulties, but I can't bring myself to go through the last act again.

Trying real hard not to start up a new IT game. I've got too many other games I've invested time in and haven't finished.

did you ever try the fanpatch? http://www.titanquest.net/tq-forum/threads/29712-REL-Bugfix-patch-1.17

i was getting some lag in some of the later towers and installed the fanpatch and it cleaned up the game very nicely for me.

i should really get back into IT. i only finished the game with one char on normal, and was working on a summoner as well which was quite fun.
