If i might add, the only one time that I was really amazed during the actual lifespan of a system was Donkey Kong Country for SNES. now there's your Killer App right there. GT4 isn't it. Halo 2 wasn't it. They still look nice but still crappier than the initial prototype/demos. Like someone on theprevious pages said, that FF8 real time dance scene was done supposedly on PS2, I have not seen one PS2 game to do that in real time.

Yep. Tech demos are pointless. N64 was "Jurassic park" graphics. Ha. PS2? Yeah like I said earlier, where's those FF8 real time games? Gamecube? Those demo's looked awesome, but even the newest zelda is still juuuust not up there. I think that is the closest to a tech demo coming to life we've seen though. I'm tired of demos. If they wanted to impress me, they should have given a wireless controller to someone sitting in the crowd and have them play a real game, looking that good.

and it really doesn't matter how true the hype is. the dreamcast was very comparable to the ps2 but the ps2 hype killed it.

Most blu-ray machines shown at the last convention were $1k+ players.

ps3, xbox360, nintendo rev. dayam all these new consoles makes me rethink about upgrading my own computer to the p4 dual core 64 bit with ati 850. hah' to think a console will have more power than a PC. I believe this time around, we'll see alot of keymouse/mouse setups for each system. Good thing the first thing I ever bought with my own money was a PSP. Now, im leaning towards ps3.... hmm.. Nintendo better have a magic trick up there sleeve ... Ill be at e3 on friday. HAH'

1080p is all i hear from you guys. Lets see, I bet none of you can even afford a TV that is capable of 1080p. Also games that are 720p are not going to be much different then 1080p. Its hype, just because PS3 supports it does not mean anything. I dont think 1080p is going to be pushed into the market for another 3-4 years. Blu ray is the only thing i see going for PS3. Everything else its a fare compeititon.

The market research analysts...the guys who are actually paid to figure out which console will "r0xor3d" and which one will "suX0r3d"...have determined that Sony and Microsoft will essentially be equal in terms of sales for the next generation.

I think Sony does win points with HDTV owners for supporting Blu-Ray, 1080P, and Dual-HDMI outputs. Being the inventor of the technology, I would expect the Blu-Ray capabilities of the PS3 to rival any standalone player, and thus eliminate the need for that additional component. Microsoft could balance out Sony quite nicely with HD-DVD support, but I'm not sure if that's happening before their November launch.

I'll be buying all three next-gen consoles. It's fun not being left out of the party.

The point is you 'can' play at 1080p when you have the tv and when the manufactures do it. If the system was only tied down to 720p for the whole life of the PS3 it wouldn't be as 'good' if you had 1080p support!

It is all about choice and I'd rather pic 1080p then 720p given a choice.

I am not too wild about the design but the game demos looked great. Seems Microsoft does not know how to make a game demo that looks good. I will definitely be buying both systems.

I think this generation it going to come down to the games and feel of the controller to decide a winner since most people still have old tv's and the graphics will be about par with each system.


Nintendo with its games I think will take this win unless it still doesn't have good third party support.

Either way the competition is good for us and we will enjoy ourselves regardless witch system we pick up. Me myself am picking up an X-box and Revolution both for First party games. X-box has HALO and revolution will have all Nintendo first party games, Playstation well I never liked their first party games so why bother buying there system since third party games are released on multiple platforms.

It's already like that I have all 3 current generation systems and not one is as fun as the Dreamcast was. I actually kept on top of games and bought new games when they came out then like Shenmue, Jet Grind Radio, Seaman and Samba de Amigo.

I have all Dreamcast games by far my favorite system ever.

Sega was churning out awesome games like there was no tomorrow. Right now Sega isn't even a tenth as prolific as they were during the Dreamcast days. I mean they really tried to keep Dreamcast (and their hardware business) alive with awesome games, but stupid PS2 hype killed it. I know people who held off from buying a Dreamcast because they thought PS2 was going to be so good. Then PS2 came, and they bought one and then came to my house to play Crazy Taxi, because there wasn't sh!t to play on PS2.
