Looks like a pretty good deal for people who waited. The wireless controller and 5 Blu-ray movies alone are probably a $180+ value. And you get a $100 price cut. $280 for "free" isn't bad.

For those interested in a PS3, the extra controller makes this a pretty good deal. It is a Sony controller (are there any 3rd party PS3 controllers yet?).

Paying tax sucks, but if you can sell the blu ray movies on ebay for around $20 each, $400 (plus tax on $500) for a PS3 with two controllers isn't bad.

Does the Playstation 3 have similar reliability problems like the Xbox 360? One odd thing that I have noticed with demo systems of Playstation3 at my Best Buy is that everytime I go to take a look at one, they always seemed to have locked up or something.

This is more of a hot deal for a blu-ray player than anything else right now. Personally, if you're looking at a PS3 as a gaming system, I would say wait another 6 months to a year.

The PS3 has much less problems than the 360; it doesn't get nearly as hot and is also much quieter. The BB systems probably lock up so much because they're encased in plastic and don't have enough ventilation.

Not even close. People are running F@H 24 hours a day and their consoles are fine. Mine has yet to freeze or overheat on me and I have had mine since early January. Build quality is very good.

Yes. They have a mini-usb port on the top which you can plug in to the PS3 or your computer to charge. I keep one plugged into the USB port on my cable box too.

I personally don't think he made an 'ignorant' statement. The Xbox 360 has more games out now and is a better system for games. I have both, and I turn on my PS3 in order to play PS2 games. The PS3 is one beautiful piece of hardware. It feels great, but, if I am going to buy a game that comes out on both consoles, I'm going to get the 360 version for the achievements. So far the only PS3 games I bought are Resistance (and who needs yet another shooter) and Ninja Gaiden Sigma. The other ones either suck (a long list) or I have the 360 copy (Marvel Ultimate Alliance and more.)

I can't wait for the new Burnout game. Ninja Gaiden looks like a good game, but I doubt I'd ever finish it because it's incredibly hard.

The other side of that coin is that the 360 also has a nice lineup of upcoming games. Mass Effect, Halo 3, Blue Dragon, to name a few. For pure gaming right now I would agree with the ~6 month statement. It will also be interesting to see how the new 65nm 360 chip affects things. Leaked info says it's "50% cheaper to produce".....

I guess my point is, each console will have it's big-name exclusive titles, and there is ALWAYS going to be a few of those "coming soon" (noted 360 titles, the PS3 titles you mentioned, Mario/Metroid/SSB for Wii). But for a purchase today, with the primary focus being on gaming, I think the 360 has the edge. But if you don't have either yet, I'd hold out till the holiday season as there should be some interesting announcements @ E3 this week.....
