Just a heads up. I bought one of these earlier when it was $10, but the left analog joystick axes were reversed (X=>Y, Y=>X). Could have been my gamepad, but I doubt it. I returned it.

No pic, but the radio shack part number is 260-0247. Looks similar to other adapters on the market. And yes, it does work with XP. Hmm, I'm using a PS2 joystick myself, so I haven't run across the reversed axes problem.

Too bad i dont have any analog sticks controllers, i only have the old original ones. However, they do work in Windows XP, works well.

Is this adapter a simple cable or one of those dumb bulky boxes on the end of a cable? I wish RS had it in their online store.

The Xbox cable I bought is really nice and simple, though I haven't gotten to test it yet.

N64 to USB adapters exist too. They're not super cheap, but you can get them for $10 to $15. Just search google for "nintendo usb adapter". I thought about buying one once so I could play N64 games in an emulator on my computer and not have to use a regular gamepad (I can never get all the buttons right to make it usable enough for N64 games... too many buttons on the N64 controller ).

It does not work with Mad Catz game pad (analog and digital keep switcing), works well with Sony's.

I have the adapter in XP and use a MadCatz controller. It only goes crazy if you start messing with the Digi - Ana switch. If it does start going crazy, just unplug it and plug it back in. I paid $10 for mine and love it for what it is. Lots of emulation goodness.

I have one of these - yes it works in WinXP. Just plug it in and it shows up as "USB Game Device." I generally use my non-analog pad with MAME / SNES / GB-Advance emu, so I'm not sure about the analog sticks switching.

If you can't find one at your local RS, look around the import game stores online. I've had good experiences from Lik Sang.

The N64 adapter is called the "adaptoid". Its very iffy in windows xp. The dpad doesn't work with the fighting games, only the analog works. U can map all the buttons, but the dpad is mapped only as buttons and not as a controler pad. The cost for me was 19.99. I use it occasionally, but the ps2 controller if its good, I'll get one of those instead =)

I was looking for this item last month since i heard they were going for about $10, but I checked about 4 stores in the San Jose area before I found 1 store that had 1 left. And of course the price dropped to $5. Good luck to those of you who wish to find it.
