This place is selling the PS X change for $10 which is at least half of what everyone else is charging. I cannot find them on reseller ratings. Does anyone know if they are legit? They want payment via Western Union.

Word of warning - if they'll only accept payment via Western Union, it's probably a scam.

NTSC = video standard for USA (don't know the others..)
PAL = most European standard, other countries...

just goto google...I'm too lazy

is it me or are playstation ultra finicky.

ive seen some that read dvd-r media like a champ, and ive seen some that barely read original ps2 games.

ive never seen 2 alike.

The prices are not a scam. That is how much a mod chip in HK costs. They are requiring you to do wire transfer only because they are International. They lose out on some money if you sent them a check or money order because of the conversion rate and it takes a while for the stuff to clear. Im not sure if this site is legit or not, but thats why most HK sites do wire transfer only.

It's seems like they could just add a handling fee of some type.

I remember modding my PS1 back a few years ago. what a pita that was. took me longer to get case opened, ready for soldering and closed than the actual soldering... having an iron w/a very sharp tip is the best. much neater now that there is Mods that just plug in.

They are other stores selling that messiah chip online who do accept credit cards. However if you are living in the US, don't buy one until they code NTSC support or else it'll be useless for you.

Guys, are you talking about the Messiah 1 or Messiah 2? If its the first version your talking about I'd definately lay off cuz the 2 will be coming out shortly. It'll be around 100 bucks I believe. I can probably hook people up for like 85, not sure though.

its a shame that group buys are no longer allowed on anand...could save some people some dough.

The Messiah Chip only works on V4 playstation 2s, but if you have one of those, you can play backup PS2 games with no swaps.

What everyone might be wanting is the Magic Chip 2 which works for all versions V1-V7 and plays every backup no swap + it plays original imports with no swap.

The only problem with no-solder mods (and it might be a big one) is that they don't support CDR's over 74min. I think that's the one problem with all no-solder modchips.
