i believe that is the audyssey that i have in my AVR. it calibrated the dual 18"s that i have. i haven't used my speakers with any other AVR though so i can't really compare it. i did have to change the crossover after running audyssey though. it wasn't boomy enough.

That's one problem with Audyssey in my experience, it often sets the crossover at the point the speakers roll off. So it sets my mains to 40hz and puts them on large, center to 60hz, surrounds to 80hz, atmos speakers to 150hz. I have to adjust these all manually. Without any sub EQ many people have to raise the level of the sub in the AVR a bit. I had to bring my PSA 15v up by 3 to get the right output. Otherwise it would always play low when checked via SPL meter.

Curious as to if anyone got this. It's not something I am interested in buying at the current time at all but it's definitely something that I would like to try at some point. That ocean exploration game looks pretty neat as does the kitchen horror game.

Someone I know won one at taco Bell and sold it on Craigslist for 1k. He got another one from best buy for $499 but I'm not sure if he's used it yet.

Man what an idiot. If you've got a grand to spend on VR you might better get Vive.

Yeah but a proper PC is another $1500. Most people these days don't even have a desktop. Maybe an iMac or something silly like that.

Not trying to start a fight, but I am not not all liking the psvr that I got at midnight from Best By. I am on my way to return it now. I am leaning towards getting the Vive because of the controllers and roomscale experience. What do you guys think?

I tried job simulator and Batman vr. I have played job simulator previously on the vive and it gave a better feel. Batman vr had some not too crisp images and was jerky in some places and it didnt feel very engaging.

Also my ps4 is hidden inside the entertainment closet now I have wires dangling all over my living room.

Overall I feel the quality is just not as great as the rift or vice. I owned the rift for 5 months before I sold it to get the psvr. Now I feell it was a bad decision.

I think the PS VR is aimed at VR naive people. If you've tried the Oculus or Vive then I suppose you won't be happy.

Even the experience on the Vive is first gen. But it is imho the best there is right now.

I'd like to try it out but I am guessing most of the PS stuff is gonna be Indy titles like they have been releasing for free on psn. They could be cool but I don't see myself using it much.

I'd be more interested in the oculus.

Many of the games I have read about seem to be experience type stuff that looks like more of a tech demo than an actual game built for it. I imagine playing the new Biohazard(resident evil) game on it will feel sluggish compared to a tv and that was the highest profile title to pledge vr support on the PS4 that I can think of.

Yea of course that's how it's going to be. PS VR is so cheap compared to the other two, it's obviously not going to give the same experience. This is VR for the average person. The average person isn't going to be able to afford a Vive and everything it takes to run it.

For most people the hassle of building a PC is too much.

I also wonder about how it runs on a PS4 as opposed to a PS4 pro. The Pro has the power for decent experiences but the original at 1.4TFLOP I really wonder about. Must be aliased like crazy. I see why they didn't limit it to the Pro but I guess developers will be able to allow supersampling for the Pro. Sort of the same thing PC users can do with cards faster than a 1060.

If you can afford a Vive and the PC that would go with it, I have no idea why the PSVR was even in the running.

someone please explain to me how a ps4 will have anywhere close to enough grunt to drive a VR setup? this seems like lunacy to me.

The resolution is lower and a lot of reprojection? That's also why they did the PS4 Pro to keep the resolution up.

I wonder in what ways the experience is upgraded for PS4 pro users and also if it needs to be implemented per game.

I asked the guy demoing it in best buy and he said since the processor and gpu are stringer it can have higher framerates. Don't know if he knows what he's talking about or what.

Could be true, it would render quicker and possibly allow better graphical improvements.

I'm definitely getting a ps4 pro and a 4k TV next month maybe for black Friday if I'm lucky. But I don't think I'll be very into the VR. I'm going to end up giving my ps4 to my brother along with some games I no longer play.

Hopefully it won't be difficult to get one of these and a Pro when it comes out in a few weeks. I saw people selling them for big markups on Craigslist even though there were multiple Best Buys that had them (at least on launch, I was in near close and they had like 8 of the regular but no launch bundles, but they checked and another one had a few launch bundles left). But no Wal-Marts and not sure if Target got them or not. Not sure if they started getting any in or not.

I'm also hoping they'll have a hack to get it working on PC by then (I would love if Valve would work to get it natively supported like they're doing for the DualShock). I don't care about the move controllers (could use Oculus Touch maybe; short term I'd plan on using the Leap Motion).

Right now I'm most interested in using VR for Tilt Brush and similar (pretty disappointed that Google didn't work to try and get that capability in Daydream with Pixel phones). So far games aren't too impressive, and the PSVR seems to work best for the fairly limited use (namely for the comfort aspect).

I might end up passing on them or might not keep them if I do get them. I demo'ed a Rift and bought and returned a Vive. I preferred the Rift for various reasons. On PC, lots of things need improving, and I'm hoping that Microsoft will work to resolve them (they're opening Windows Holographic up to more than just the HoloLens, and so I'm hoping they'll do some legwork to make simple computer use better). But the mixed reactions (I see some saying its in many ways superior to the Rift/Vive, and others say it isn't, but then I saw some say the Vive looked sharper and better, but in my experience it was slightly worse) are a bit troubling. Also Sony not going 4K Blu-ray is a bit disappointing (as it would make it easier to justify getting the Pro even if the headset wouldn't really benefit), as I'd probably keep the PS4 Pro just for that aspect. But without it, unless the VR is good enough, I'd probably sell them (or return if possible) I'd hold out til Scorpio and see what happens (curious if Microsoft will have their own version of the Rift, if there will be an improved or cheaper Rift, if it'll work with Kinect, etc). I'm mostly indifferent between the two as far as platforms go (might even be leaning a bit towards Microsoft with the ability to buy games and play on PC or Xbox).

The setup is annoying with so many cables, but PlayStation VR is...

Effing AWESOME.

Resident Evil VII was clearly made for it. Makes me sad to see so many played through it without VR.

Until Dawn: Rush of Blood is really super well-done. Amazingly creative. It only cost me $8 when it was on sale for $9.99 and I used a 20% discount at Best Buy. Never played the original Until Dawn game, but I will eventually.

I still need to buy VR Worlds. The "London Heist" scenario is very cool and you barely get a taste in the VR Worlds demo. If I had waited for the VR bundles to restock, I would have this.

I already had a ton of Move wand controllers I've acquired for killer discounts over the years. Some came from thrift stores for just a couple dollars. Can anyone tell me if the newer stock wand controllers still have mini USB? I suspect they might have been revised with micro USB. I have a charge base anyway and it doesn't interface through the USB connector.

I've only experienced it with the PS4 Pro. I don't know how different it might be on a regular PS4.

Wand controllers still have mini usb. It's one of the bigger complaints of the current VR setup since they didn't update the controllers at all. That might change in the near future, though I doubt it.

You still need the camera right? So if you didn't buy the ps4 camera and you just get the headset, will it work the same?

Too many cords and me only using it once in a while was why I didn't get one yet.
