Yes it works, the thing is it does not detect it as Monster Gamepad.
I bought the non-vibrating one at levelsix.com for PS2. Here's the way it works,
the controller will be detected as a 16 button controller in XP. It should automatically install it.
Make sure the little analog red light is on on the PS2 controller or it won't work it gets all wacky.
Now the controller is detected as 16 buttons, and every button has an assignment, even the d-pad
are seen as buttons. That's it. D-Pad are like buttons 3,4,5, and 6. And the rest are self explanatory.
So you can use the joy2key program that comes with the controller, or you could just go into your game
and set your buttons. For example left in GTA3 for me is button 3 on my PS2 controller, which is left on the d-pad.
It's very easy, don't use windows calibration stuff, just let it be detected as 16 buttons and thats it. In my system
properties it's detected as HID-compatible controller or something like that. If you've got any other questions just ask.
