She can only see her grandson at my house, and she may not smoke whatsoever around him, me, or my wife.

I lost my grandfather to lung cancer that moved to the brain, I lost my grandmother to alzhiemers, no history of it in my family, Dr. concluded that smoking helped decrease the O2 flow to the brain, thus causing the disease.

My Mom's dad is bed ridden, he cannot even stand 10 mins to shave because of the damaging effects of smoke on his lungs.

My great grandmother had lung cancer due to smoking, was bed ridden because of it. She decided to no longer suffer, she took her own life with a gun.

So those who say smoking does not affect anyone but those who smoke, BULLSH!T!!!!! It affects those you love worse, because they have to sit there and watch you kill yourself slowly.

How about if he was sitting there by himself on the park bench and you and your wife decided to stand by there. Would you then tell him to move?

No Red, I would not tell him to move because he was there before we were. I would just simply tell my wife that we need to move on. It is our choice to either move or not in that case. But since we had been there for over 20 mins so she could rest, and fight back the sickness, he should have moved. He actually just walked right up stood there and lit up a cancer stick. She was obviously quite preggars at the time. I think he just wanted to start some sh!t. Thing is, I am 5'10" 300 (yeah I need to lose a few) and he was all of about 5'4" and 120.
I think the scenario you painted is fine then. As long as you respect his rights he should respect your rights and I do believe that you have the right to not breath his smoke if you were at the location first.

BTW, being overwieght is as bad for your health as second hand smoke. If you really are worried about your families well being take care of yourself. I'm sure you would want to be around for your childs wedding and to see your grandchildren.

I don't smoke, but people with this attitude just seem like whiners and crybabies to me. You can smell car exhaust too - do you run around in traffic whimpering "PLEASE, PLEASE DON'T DRIVE. IT'S KILLING ALL OF US!"?

if you're just sitting there smoking, then i will avoid you like the plague.

the people that REALLY piss me off are the ones walking around campus and lighting up as they go from class to class. i can't avoid you no matter how hard i try. especially if i'm walking right behind you. i try to walk faster but i still get that whiff. bleah.

Thats when you just ask them to please put out the cig or get out of your way. When they refuse, you pluck the cig from their mouth and put it out for them. Apparently some smokers are too stupid to know what manners are so they have to be taught the old fashioned way. And yes I've done it before and no you would not be able to "kill me" or "beat me up" or whatever.

one of the rare mannered people Sadly almost every smoker i've ever dealt with has always been rude.

It wouldn't matter to me even a shred how you decide to fvck yourself up, what gets me going are these insipid anti-smoking advertising campaigns funded by the state. I'm not going to pay to mash the horse pulp some more so some idiot can ignore what's obvious even to kids and tards.

That's such a lame excuse. My body is mine so you have no right to force me to breathe in smoke just because you want to puff away. If cigarettes didn't give off smoke as they burned and if you inhaled smoke and exhaled carbon dioxide with NO smoke then no one would complain. But the fact of the matter is si that second-hand smoke can be more harmful to people aroudn than the first-hand smoke is to the one smoking in filtered cigarettes, and it's equally harmful to others in regular cigarettes.

Plus there's the fact that after I get home from a bar I have to leave my clothes outside because they smell so bad.

Fact s smoking should be banned everywhere. Once it is it will be a much happier place.

Smokers are vile. But, why should I expect someone who clearly has no regard for their own life to give mine any.

Bullsh!t. Not one study shows "more harm." And the EPA report claiming harm from ETS was thrown out of federal court because it was biased and unscientific. The fact of the matter is, the majority of studies could draw no connection between ETS and harm in exposed non-smokers.

Plus there's the fact that after I get home from a bar I have to leave my clothes outside because they smell so bad.

Go to a non-smoking bar.

Fact s smoking should be banned everywhere. Once it is it will be a much happier place.

Yeah, we all know how well that worked for alcohol and drugs, right?

If it affects me, I'll say something (breathing their smoke, etc.). I always do so politely; usually the response I get is reciprocal. I know most smokers don't intentionally blow smoke into my breathing space.

Otherwise, it's none of my business.

On another note, quit throwing your butts on the ground or out your car window. That's pathetic.

Sorry bud, but I have to disagree with you on this.

When my wife was pregnant, I asked a man to step away from her so his smoke would not be around her. It made her sick. This bast@rd got in my face and told me that he was outside and he could smoke anywhere he d@mned well pleased. I explained that she was pregnant, he said SFW. We had been on the park bench for about 20 mins when he walked up and lit up and stood there.

When I began to get lound with him, he told me to STFU. Just as I was going to "convince" him that it would be in his best intrest to move, a cop came up and wanted to know what all the noise was about. I gave him my story, and the guy said that he had walked up to us and lit up, he did not deny it. The cop basically told him to move his arse or else I could file assault chages against him for my wife. Whether or not they would stick would be up to a judge, but he would earn a trip to the Marietta Jail for the night.

@sshole moved and, we thanked the cop, whose wife just happened to due any day then.

Smokers affect us all whether you want to believe it or not, your nasty habit affects everyone around you.

That guy was a d!ck. There are non-smokers that are d!cks too. I think this situation has a lot more to do with respect and common courtesy than smoking.

Second hand smoke is bad for other people. Therefore if your smoking in my face, Im going to say something to you because it IS affecting me.

OK, just make sure the smoke doesn't float into non-smoking areas.

They should make cages for smokers so that the smoke does not linger away from them and by a non-smoker!

This is not the responsibility of the smoker, but a responsibility of the restaurant, bar, building to have proper air flow in their establishment.

You allowed to legally smoke outside, but I still don't want you smoking by me. There are alot of legal places you can smoke, but the smoke still drifts toward me. And as someone else mentioned, why don't you throw your butts in the trash where they belong, not all over the street! Geez!
