Ive been reading hotdeals for quite sometime... scum deals always come up where ppl here reject right away some of these etailers.....

i m going to mention a few that i have personally lost on:

pacific-group
tigerdirect
GPS Computer Services LTD
..

i m just trying to see if Mods can put something like this on top like the other ones (I wanna and others).... where ppl could see first the reputation of the companies from the "Family" here for more reliablity...

reselleratings.com is BS...

Emailing a mod might be a better idea and asking for such a thread . Id guess this could go in brag and moan , but a more direct thread wouldnt hurt . Though I dunno if Id like 10 gazillion threads before the hotdeals start

I dont think this kind of thread is necessary because I think people on here bitch enough already about not getting hot deals. If its a list of companies that scam their consumers then I think it will be helpful. If its a list of companies that dont honor pricing errors, we dont need another whiner thread. If you are one of the lucky few that gets in on a pricing error thats great but if you dont, the company doesnt owe you anything. And yes, I am a Wounded Monitor Child...

Resellerratings has such a list, but if people don't know about it, it may be good to have a permanent thread here of web sites to avoid.

Hey buddy, wake up! Resellerratings can give you an idea, but you do understand that these scumbags go there and up their ratings right? Really if there is a section started here reporting bad sites, it should only be posted in by LONG TIME, trusted, hot deals users who will post honestly because I think representatives from these scumbag sites post here also. Also, we wouldn't want people bashing sites based on ONE experience. For instance, I feel I got screwed on the Dell Radeon 8500 deal and I will try not to buy anything from them again, but you wouldn't want me posting them into the scumbag thread considering they did used to have a good track record. So there would have to be some rules to follow for the bad site thread as well...

excellent point, - what beats me, with the brain power that's utilized to digup every PM or PG or reabte, wouldn't it be advisable to having something like this thread to sharpen them skillz by avoiding deals from the clutter sites?

No one wants to make an idiots job easier. Anyone who sticks around here for even a little while will pick up these things naturally. I have yet to see a TigerDirect thread go by in 6 months that someone doesn't put in their 2 cents about the company's reputation. Hot dealers aren't going to hold your hands and spoon feed.

[edit]--By the way, that wasn't directed at you digme.

No companies perfect but alot of the time, ok nevermind the majority of the time you only hear the negatives instead of the positives... and thats by a great margin. Whens the last time you posted something good about a company? And also what keeps in line with a scum site...is someone going to moderate the thread? This isn't your personal shopping forum, this is a forum to post hot deals, and with the amount of knowledgable people on here, there will usually be someone chiming in on bad experiences with a certain company on a hotdeal quite early. If you want to start a thread, i suggest starting it in the off-topic forum or in the brag and moan sticky noted post by the mod. This is just my opinion.

just b/c u got burned doesn't means everybody has the same problem. You can't just list a company u don't like on your list and misleading ppl. if so, plz add these two companies.
buy dot com and amazon dot com(i guess some ppl hate them)
however, this is a good idea but resellersrating.com already do this for us
just my 2 cents

Your intentions are good and this is a good idea ... BUT it does no good if people don't first read the thread which they routinely don't. For example how many "I wanna deal on a ..." threads do we see a week? Do they know or even bother to read the I wanna thread? Nope or they don't care.

If I actually thought it would work and people would read it then it'd be a great idea.

lock this crap - just because you had a problem with some site doesn't make them a bad site - also, do we really need another sticky at the top???

One more place to hear about good or bad experiences (yes, even ONE) would be a good thing to see.
Might also force a retailer to go ahead and fix the problem with the customer, because this forum is
read by the same people who are most likely to buy or not buy from these same retailers. I would
check that thread daily if it were to exist.

PicPop&badluck,

just to explain myself,

the way i came up with those is not because i was singled out.... i was a statistics and so were many more others who had dealt with the companies(jeez, there's even couple of threads where almost every Ater that sees the hotdeals have been gripping)

Rossman, wouldn't you think ppl would be tempted to read this list - let's say if it was a sticky-like the list that exists in FS/FT with name lists whom not to trade with etc?

Bottom line guys: FS/FT has one, why not Hot Deals....AT can try to put a sticky and try it and see how many hits it will get. I am just suggesting..

So, instead of a sticky thread, how about a link on this server, maybe a poll w/comments. So instead of all these old hot deals continually re-emerging with info on how the vendor performed, they could instead fade away, with the comments being posted poll like and commented in another internal dbase. The hot deal could contain the info and immediate reactions and results and thw vwndor could be rated elsewhere. So, if you'd heard that people were still waiting for their Radeon 8500 from Dell you could check Dell out in the dbase and see if that is true. Rather than it being a general reseller ratings type page for all the world to use, it could be linked to the hot deal thread, say with a link in the commemts generated by a link available in the post- a button that says rate this deal/vendor= like rate this member.

I agree, this idea 'could' work, but I usually skip past a sticky and read the deals first. From time to time, I'll gather some info from a sticky, which could be helpful here.
Lets say I was going to order something from a particular company, and I wanted to know about some others experiences from the same site. I'd like to know how it went over with others so I dont get screwed ordering from a company that didn't have a deal in here (I know its rare, but it happens sometimes )
At any rate, it couldn't hurt to have something like this to read over something like this before buying or shopping around.

Hmm.. I don't think this is really necessary.
Because ppl (this forum member) will discuss about the seller that carries the HotDeaL in the thread anyway..
right?
