And - for the 1 500th post:

What is done on your private property is most of the time your own business unless the stuff you do results in bodily harm och mental distress - i.e. if you drink so much that you have to call an ambulance or the police has to come to your property to calm down the raucus...

BTW: today starts the largest wind power tower in Europe - 140 m high, with three blades that are 60 m long each, the effect is yet to be determined, but it it is estimated that it can power some 50 000 houses ...
I have applied for a licence to build one for our fort. The view shoud be great, the defensive power too (we just lean the tower a little and all are blown away if we just add power instead of extracting it ...)

I'm thinking a heavily modified heat sink / fan setup--have every computer on peltier cooling. Geothermal on the hot side, and that thing on the cold side. And you know what else! We could make the base or stem or tower part of it a lot thicker, and we could live inside there too!

Hmmm. You know what we could do? Funnel the wind into a wind tunnel, and have it go down a long tube, and have it pass through all of our heat sinks. That way we wouldn't have to have fans! I don't think it would be silent, but it would only be wind noise.

If you have been near a windpowered generator you would not want to live in the tower - due to the infrasound (sound @ 4 - 12 Hz). That is no fun. You can not hear it, you feel it ...

I like the wind tunnel - but the power bill!
OK: when the wind is strong we generate energy (and cool the comps), we store the energy in batteries, which we use to posewr the fan ...

I think we should ask Liz to modify the fort as to our ideas ...

So i need to add batteries and an air intake tunnel? Maybe we should add a floor plan too...

We had a power outage today that far exceeded my battery run-time. I lost better than 8 hours of crunching today and I am very unhappy about that.

We had 40 MPH gusts today which would have spun the turbine quite a bit. We need to get this thing hooked up pronto so we don't lose any more crunching.

Our DC fort must have continuous, uninterrupted power for our crunchers.

We need wind, solar, geothermal and could we put a limoncello powered turbine in the moat somehow? Maybe an MC Escher style moat around the fort where it goes downhill (spinning the generator) and then flows back uphill to repeat the cycle?

It's windy here too... the weather is getting better daily, which makes it easier than ever to ignore this thread.
