Please explain why anyone would buy GS3 from Sprint

Might as well carry around an ipod with their data speeds on 3G. No LTE network means that Sprint's LTE is worthless. I'm struggling to see the benefits.

May as well say the same for Sprint in general. No LTE, unusably bad 3G, a deprecated wimax network that no new devices can access anyway, and they cost about the same as the other carriers. May as well go to another carrier for two years and see if any of their Network Vision promises have come true by then.

They're cheap and have unlimited, workable data. I've priced an equivalent Verizon plan before that's comparable to my Sprint plan (unlimited data and free mobile to mobile on any network, so essentially free minutes) and my Sprint's $70/month while Verizon is easily $100+, probably around $120. Close to double the price.

Fuzzy : unlimited data has all the effect of a buzz term with their 3G. Those who have a WiMAX connection are better off. Since the GS3 has 3G data only it's a wasted device on their network IMO. Therefore I fail to see the benefit of buying Sprints version until LTE is activated.

If you live in an area that has good Sprint 3G coverage and need unlimited it's a good option. Some would rather have unlimited 3G that tiered 4G. LTE is the end all be all for some people. If you like to stream Pandora and watch youtube on your phone all day a solid 3G signal could be preferred to tiered 4G.

Sprints 3G is as good as Verizon's in my area. I have two relatives on Sprint iPhones and they work great.

I'm actually looking at switching back to Sprint this fall. LTE is supposed to be up and running in Charlotte sometime this fall and I only switched from Sprint in the first place for an iPhone. At the time, AT&T was EDGE only in my area. So it wouldn't be the first time I switched in advance of network upgrades.

Weird; but voice (for me) was better under sprint than verizon. Also I find sprint at bit more lay backed and verizon a bit stuffy. Anyways I was on sprint (non-data) for 11 years; and have been on verizon for 6 months. I currently have the razr (which has rather poor battery life) and my thought is this Aug I will switch back to sprint (and eat etf) iff lte in my area goes live. However, I'm not sure if I will go with htc or s3. The one x screen is brillant and the phone itself is pretty nice; though I wish it had a remove-able battery. The battery issue might drive me to the s3. Anyways those are my thoughts today; but I'm open to change my mind between now and then.

Sprint 3G speeds are on par with VZW's where I live. I had a EVO 4G, and almost never used it's WIMAX. Mostly because WIMAX was hard to get indoors and it just drained my battery.

I'll tell you why, because there is literally no other sane option.

All the carriers know that consumers want an individual plan that goes like this:

500 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited (5gb+) data all for around 50ish dollars a month.
Sprint offers this, no one else even comes close.

I am on the Sero Premium plan with Sprint, and believe me I would LOVE to be on TMobile or AT&T due to flexibility with GSM phones as well as their much more mature networks. The ONLY plan that even interested me at all was the Tmobile prepaid walmart plan for $30 a month, but that only gives 100 minutes, unlimited texts and 5gb+ of HSPA+. If I could make 100 minutes a month work, it would be great, but that is just too small and I hear very conflicting reports on using a SIP solution to take calls over a data connection.

So what options are there for people? To pay literally double what I am paying now for faster data speeds?

I'm on sprint and I really do not like paying for a non-4g service (only 3g here) but when I compare to other carriers (my wife streams pandora all day and she receives a corporate discount) it is the best option for us....

I had Sprint for over two years and I don't think I ever used more than half my available minutes. I will gladly trade minutes I don't use for data that is fast enough to use. And unlimited data is pointless on Sprint since it's so slow.

Smartphones are expensive and I felt like a complete sap paying what I did for non working mobile data. Now that I have Verizon, I feel like I'm getting my money's worth.

Look at Verizon's new plans - they throw in unlimited talk and text when most people don't need it, and then say what a great deal it is. Minutes and messages are basically free to the carriers.

Yea, but Sprint always gives you that glimmer of hope before they utterly destroy your dreams. 2 years ago it was WIMAX and how awesome it was going to be. Now its LTE. 2 years from now it will be the 800mhz band of LTE coming online, which will SURELY fix all of the problems I will inevitably have with LTE on the 1900mhz band. It goes on and on.

The only place where Sprint is competitive against ALL the other carriers at all is in their unlimited minutes to mobile phones.
They are not anywhere near competitive on the data front despite their unlimited data advertising shenanigans. Their 3G sucks ass.

It is my hope that Sprint will become more competitive on the data front with it's LTE rollout.

Did a Speedtest simultaneously at dinner with T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint

T-Mobile - 5 mbps down, 1.3 up
Verizon - 600 kbps down, 500 up
Sprint - 180 kbps down, 120 up

Terrible.

That said, Sprint has had great call coverage - Sprint is also free mobile to mobile on any carrier - and their plans are comparatively cheap (10% off with AAA discount too!) - but at this point, data is so slow that being unlimited is just... ugh

T-Mobile's unlimited call, text, and 5GB of data with no contract for $70/month is appealing as an alternative...

I had bad speeds on sprint 3G with my Galaxy nexus (100-300kbps) but I returned it and got the new Evo which now gets 1.5-2mbps on 3g almost all the time. It is fast enough to where when I am at the other end of the house the cellular is faster than using my weak wifi signal.

I couldn't believe it, but I guess not all radios are equal.

The only reason I'm still with them is SERO. $50 a month, which for me amounts to unlimited everything. CDMA service is superior where I live, and a comparable plan with Verizon is about double what I pay now.

I really want a Galaxy Note though

If I didn't have unlimited data with Verizon I'd go T-Mobile in a heartbeat, wouldn't even consider Sprint.
