Please give input on which RAM to get

I'm in the planning stage of upgrading my home computer. With the items that I've currently got built up, I've got nearly everything that I'm going to upgrade with. When I had first planned to upgrade, I figured that this will be my last upgrade for a minimum of two years. After the upgrade, I can see myself using this computer as my primary workstation for the next two to four years (and even longer when I eventually install Linux on it). The reason I see myself using this system for such a long time is because I'm building around components that I'll keep as is, or overclock as I desire.

I'm upgrading my motherboard, CPU, RAM, switching to SCSI drives, and adding a SCSI card. The remainder of my components, such as video/floppy/CD-RW/DVD drives, will come from my current computer. So far, I've got the following:

MSI KT3 ULTRA-ARU
AMD Athlon XP 2200+ Thoroughbred
Thermaltake Volcano 7+ HSF
(2) 18.3GB IBM Ultrastar 36LZX 10000RPM drives
Adaptec 29160N Ultra 160 SCSI adapter

As previously stated, the remainder of my componenets will be transferred from the computer that's being upgraded. However, I need to get RAM. As tempted as I am to get a Corsair XMS PC3000 512MB stick, I don't want to spend over $200. Which 512MB RAM would you recommend I get that would be very good, and a lot less. I'd appreciate any info that anyone has to offer.

Right on. Samsung happend to be a manufacturer that I was considering. Do you use that stick too? If so, how do you like it? I guess with the motherboard that I'm getting, I shouldn't worry about about anything faster than the 333 right?

Yeah I second that Samsung PC2700 (esp. from newegg.com). Personally, I'd shoot for between $150.00 - $170.00 right now for some nice, premo RAM like this. Corsair is nice, pricey but nice, as well as Crucial which you can find good deals on usually. That sounds like a nice system, it will be right at home with any of the listed memory here.

Sweet. Between your recommendations, and the reviews that Newegg purchasers said on the Samsung, I'm getting it. Ordering now!
