please guys n00b needs help quick

ok so i made my first omputer and im having trouble... i cant get the usb ports on my computer (all of them) to run at usb2.0... i installed all the drivers i could and it still has a question mark on the device manager.. i dont understand whats wrong...

also my onboard audio has the same problem.... and when i connect my stero system thru the audio out i dont hear anything, its not working.. please help... specs:

amd athlon 3000+
1gig ram
radeon x800 gto
120gig hdd

Installing the latest nvidia nforce drivers should be all that's required.

i installed all drivers on the cd... unless the cd doesnt have the latest drivers

No they don't. You should visit nVidia's website for the latest drivers.

wen i try to install the audio driver "ac'97" version 3.76, it says only 95 is supported with this driver package

If you try and install the NVIDIA chipset drivers (I would go get 6.66) without already having Service pack1 or 2 installed the USB ports won't work. I had the problem when I forgot to use my slipstream XP service pack2 cd to on my new system and used my actual XP disk. I had the same problem you are having. I would reinstall Windows and before installing the NVIDIA chipset drivers install Service Pack 2 or create a slipstream of your XP disk with Service Pack2

craaaap, i dont wanna reinstall windows... is it really nessicary?.... OH and also, i have a HDD problem, i bought a 200gb hdd and the computer is only reading 127gigs, what happened to the rest?

EDIT: i got my usb2.0 to work... after installing sp2 i re-installed the usb drivers and it works now, let me go try with the audio now

As for your hard drive problem..since your windows CD doesn't have SP1 or SP2..thats why it only saw 127gb. SP1 or SP2 is required for windows to recognize the full drive when partition with the windows install CD. At this point you can either make another partition for the rest of the drive, and have a seperate drive letter for the missing space, or you could get a program such as partition magic to add the missing space to your C: drive. Otherwise you'll need to do a re-install, and either use the hard drive Mfg's utilities to partition the full drive prior to installing windows, or you will need to make a slipstreamed windows cd with service pack 1 or 2(preferably 2).

have you went into your bios and checked to make sure there isn't and option to enable the usb 2.0? On mine, i had to go into the bios and enable the usb 2.0

i got the hdd and usb problem fixed all thats left is the onboard audio.....

i installed every driver, enabled onboard audio from bios, went to control panel, audio stuff, checked it, and still no sound...
