Hi folks, so few days ago I updated MB bios 3603 to 4802 (ASUS TUF gaming X570) and also updated AMD chipset in windows, I think there was also some windows update same time.

After that whenever I power ON PC it goes to bios, once I just leave the bios (no changes made) and system restart all ok, I get to windows (10). When I restart later, also all ok. If I power off, power on,goes to bios.

I was checking bios after POWER ON and found there is no any bootable device visible, when I press F8 (Boot menu) there is message "The system cannot find any bootable devices". System is on M2 SSD and whats even more strange bios doesnt see the NVME drive at all under advanced/Nvme controller and drive information, after restart nvme is visible under advanced as well as bootable drive visible.

I think biggest change bios made is that it somehow activated my TPM module which had to be disabled before as windows 10 was telling me Iam not ready to switch to win11, after bios update windows offered me upgrade to install win11, not sure If this can be connected to the issue.

If need I can share pictures from bios, this is not 1st time I updated bios and didnt happen before, well Iam not sure If it is caused by bios or chipset/windows update but If bios doesnt see the drive I guess reason was bios update.
CMS is disabled in boot section of bios.

First thing that comes to mind is the CMOS battery being dead. A BIOS update in general shouldn't default on power cycles. The battery seems logical because a reboot doesn't lose power.

Hallo, but If that would be battery wouldnt I loose also time for ecxample? And other settings like memory clock? Also bios should find hardware on first start.
Iam afraid the CMOS is not the reason.

Disable Fast Boot and see what happens. In the BIOS, you can simply search for "Fast Boot".

I will try with a wild suggestion:

turn on CSM and see if it boots.

I tried that, bellow you can see last setting with same result, I tried also legacy and no boot at all. I tried different combinations If you know what should be the corect one, please let me know.
I also attached another bios screen which able to choose OS type, should I choose Windows? ..but again this all is strange because in 2nd start (not after power on), the setting is also on "Other" and it works.

It's not a CSM issue.

Either check the battery as I mentioned or the other options in the article. The next thing would be reverting the BIOS to the prior level and see if it's resolved.

Workable SolutionsStep-by-step Troubleshooting
Fix 1. Check Hardware ConnectionsWhen your computer keeps booting to BIOS, the first thing you can do...Full steps
Fix 2. Disable Fast Boot and Set Proper Boot OptionAnother alternative is to disable fast Boot. Windows Fast Boot is a way...Full steps
Fix 3. Run Windows RepairThe third way to stop your PC keeps booting to BIOS is to run Windows repair...Full steps
Fix 4. Check the CMOS BatteryThe CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) battery provides...Full steps

If disabling Fast Boot in the BIOS didn't fix it, disable it in the power settings in Windows (note what it says underneath). Where it's checked "turn off fast startup", uncheck it. In the BIOS, go back and disable CSM.

give it a try and see.

Seems odd the update did this. I have the same BIOS - 4802.

Make sure you turn CSM off.

Maybe the NVMe drive is having issues? Maybe take it out and then turn on the machine and then shut it off and put the NVMe drive back in?

Could be a corrupt windows install so maybe the repair might fix it.

My friend with an ASUS H610M mobo also had this issue with the latest BIOS. Though it didn't happen immediately after the update and it's not persistent. After using his PC for a month, he encountered a "boot drive not found" error. I think he power cycled it and the issue went away. But he was pretty scared that maybe the data was corrupted or something. Curiously, CrystalDiskInfo shows 110 unsafe shutdowns count. My friend says that he always shuts his PC down safely. So maybe the OP should check his unsafe shutdown count too. Could be a general issue with ASUS BIOS quality. They must have laid off their BIOS validation engineers or something.

You didn't specify if you have graphics board or not?

Disconnect drives, locate the CLRTC/CMOS reset jumper:

To erase the RTC RAM:
1. Turn OFF the computer and unplug the power cord.
2. Use a metal object such as a screwdriver to short the two pins for two seconds
3. Plug the power cord and turn ON the computer.
4. Hold down the <Del> key during the boot process and enter BIOS setup to re-enter data.

Seen it a couple times when after an apparently successful BIOS update, there were configuration glitches and it just needed to reset/clear CMOS.

Edit: last case was HP machine from 2014, several BIOS updates to 2019. Figured no longer need to do the 'clear/reset ESCD/CMOS' thing manually after updating anymore, those were the old days, the BIOS updater does it automatically. Kept getting USB controller hub and ports not configured, yellow bangs in Device Manager. Removed them and restarted, redetected and reinstalled but still same yellow bangs. I even tried updating the darn BIOS again. Same problem.

Posted the question to HP forums someone replied did I reset/clear CMOS? I was like no, haven't had to do that in several years. Well that did it, everything installed and configured properly on next boot to Windows.

Good to hear that the issue was resolved, and you got a big upgrade! It is possible that the 3700X could have been unstable in some way, but this is still odd.

I would reflash BIOS, try 3700X again. Not recommending that, just saying what I would do because it would bug me.
