Hi there guys, i'm gonna try and condense this as much as possible, but please can you bear with me, i really need help with this.

Right.

This all started off a couple of days ago, i was sitting at home when my computer started to go slow, which is strange considering the fact it is practically brand new. I then noticed that i have so much sh*t on my C drive that i didnt actually need, so i decided to backup to an external HDD, and restore my drive.

About 5 minutes in to restoring, there was a powercut. My computer, and everything else in my house went off... So after the power came back on, i tried re-booting my PC, only to be told that "BOOTMGR is missing - Press CTRL ALT DEL to reset." at this point i started to panic, so using my laptop i searched "bootmgr missing" on google, getting no help at all. I tried launching startup repair from my BIOS menu, still nothing.

I then, as a last resort decided "Fu*k it, i'm going to re-install Windows."

The install went fine, ran nice and smoothly, but when i started up my task bar was trimmed from the bottom of my screen, and there was a black strip at the side of my monitor where the screen had somehow auto-adjusted so my desktop had been pushed to the left. i tried auto-adjusting... nothing. I tried changing my resolution... nothing, just bigger icons. I then googled "how to factory reset PC", to be told to press f9 while booting to launch the startup repair screen.

When i was there, i clicked "Restore my system" or somethign along those lines, as thats what i wanted to do. My PC whirred for a little bit, then told me "completed, press ESC to exit." so i did, and when i booted again, "Boot manager" appeared telling me that startup had failed, and that a recent software or hardware change could have caused it... What the hell do i do now?! I really don't want to pay another £750 for a new computer...

PLEASE HELP!!

please post what your computers specs are & what windows you are trying to run.

when it comes to the screen adjustment you just need to do custom scaling which is in the graphics cards program.

It sounds like the first time you were missing the video drivers. Try the factory restore again and make sure you chose the one where it completely erases your hard drive.

looks like you ran window's system restore.

What you want to do is a Factory Restore in which it wipes out the Hard drive.
Try again and this time read and select your choice carefully.

put in the windows 7 cd, reboot the computer and you should see on the boot screen press Del(or F1/2) to enter BIOS, and Press F8(or F10) to enter boot manager, enter boot manager and select your dvd drive to boot first. it will say press any key to boot. press a key.

now once windows setup is loaded up, you going to want to select custom install.
when it pulls up the screen that shows your hard drives, select your boot hard drive and click options, then click format. continue on by clicking next and installing windows 7.

once windows is done your going to need to look up the drivers for your motherboard(chipset, audio, video, etc.) install them and for god sakes download Avast anti-virus or any other virus protection. and download firefox, google chrome, or opera.. dont use IE.. its a hazzard

Considering i didn't build my computer, do i need to open my computer to find out what audio/video card i have to DL the drivers? if not, how do i find out?

Btw, im a n00b, what's a chipset? ^_^

BOOTMGR is missing may mean that it's trying to boot from the wrong device. You should make sure the boot device order is set correctly in the bios.

Ok guys, i have W7 succesfully installed, everything seems to be working alright. Although, my resolution has somehow managed to trim the top of my screen off, right now the taskbar in chrome isn't actually visible (bar with close, minimize etc.) Any advice?

adjust your screen resolution, right click on the desktop and chose "screen resolution".
