Please help irq conflicts

my soundcard, nic card and usb device all share an irq of 5 along with some pci steering device or something. windows me doesn;t report any conflicts. all the devices work independently well but if i use my nic card and soundcard at the same time (ie transfer files between comps and use winamp at the same time) my comp freezes up. i have a asus a7v133 motherboard. i tried installing the latest 4 in one drivers but they keep lockign up my system after it goes 100 %. What can i do to make my system more stable. Please help

Plus when i use my modem connected to com port 1 , my printer using the parrallel port goes on a fritz. they have different irqs and no conflicts with any resources.

What PCI slots do you have them in? IRQ's can be controlled best by moving devices around. Be sure to SKIP PCI slot 1 because it shares with AGP. Another method is to pull all the cards out and start windows. That will clear the registry of the devices. Then, put just, for example, the sound card into PCI slot2 and boot. Windows will detect and assign an IRQ. Shutdown, then put your NIC in PCI3 and boot. Basically, the "one at a time" method. As long as you have IRQ's 9,10, and/or 11 free, windows should assign them each different IRQ's. If you're not using COM2, I would disable that in BIOS before starting as that will free an IRQ (IRQ3).

As far as com1 and your printer, you got me. COM1 is typically on IRQ4 and the printer LPT port is on IRQ7, should be no issues there theoretically.
