Today since I've turned on my desktop something is using full bandwidth of my internet and I can't do anything. Is there any way to check which app/ process is sucking all the data? I've turned off Windows Updates as I thought it was the culprit, but no. I disconnect the internet and then when I connect it back it starts to download again.

I can't open any website, can't do anything, please help me. I'm using Windows 7 x64. I have NetWorx installed.

Thanks in advance.

PS: This behaviour is continuing for past 90 minutes or so, and with my speed it is around 800-900 mb data it has already sucked!

Is Windows updates running?
Resource Monitor (built into Windows) can help you with finding the culprit. Just expand the Network section.

No, Windows Updates wasn't running, at least I don't think so! I forced rebooted the system and now that download has stopped, don't know when it will reappear.

Okay, will look into Resource monitor, thanks.

Next time you could try just disconnecting the cable (stopping internet access) and see what complains

Be hilarious if it was just Steam updating a game.
The only official Steam game I have on my PC is GTA V, and I did check Steam whether it was downloading an update or not, in fact Steam wasn't even open when that wonder download was taking place.

And by doing that I will lose access to internet completely!

When using resource monitor, on the network tab, if you encounter a svchost.exe that is using a lot of resources, you can drill down into it by noting the pid, going back to task manager, right clicking on that pid (the pid column has to be enabled first) and then clicking "go to service(s)".
