Please help me connect my computers (connected to a server) onto the internet.

i recently bought 2 new computers running on win2k pro.

i have an already existing server that is connected to the internet, it is running windows NT, however the newer computers CAN connect to the server, however they cannot connect to the internet.

I dont have very much experience with servers, so if anyone can give me advice to how to connect the newer computers to the internet, i would be extremely greatful

what operating system is the server running NT covers NT 3.5 through to 2003.

if you have 2k server or above then it will be a breeze to share the net it its NT 4 you may have to look at third party packages to do it.

post back with a bit more info.

ie internet connection type, os and netowrk setup ie router or none.

ok i think it might be win nt4, the internet connection is dsl, and there is a router and a firewall.

another thing: there is 2 exisiting computers (that were bought a long time ago, and set up by someone), that can connect to the internet through the server, so im thinking its like some configutarion with the server.

sounds like its a simple case of changing IP settings.

i would imagine that you are connecting to the net through your router.

What OS are the 2 computers that are on the net already running? if it is NT of any sort open a dos prompt and type ipconfig /all if they are running windows 98 etc goto run type winipcfg

post the results you get here. you are looking for ip address, subnet mask, default gateway and dns server entries. do it both computers they should all be the same apart from the ip address that should be different on both machines.
