Question Please help me "port forward" this is all very foreign to me.

I have no clue how to do this and all of the results google yields are old it seems.

I need to portforward specifically for xbox games pass on Windows.

Apparently I need the 3074 ports? And I'm hitting dead ends.

I'm at the screen to add a new virtual server (or port I assume) and its asking:

Microsoft states the following: "Xbox Live requires the following ports to be open on your router"
Port 88 (UDP)
Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
Port 80 (TCP)
Port 500 (UDP)
Port 3544 (UDP)
Port 4500 (UDP)

external ports, you have listed...they will be the same for internal ports. the internal IP address is your computer IP address...So most likely 192.168.x.x Find this by running a command window and typing ipconfig. Finally the protocol is UDP or TCP.

Archer A9 ought to have no problems with uPNP (auto open/close ports) and xbox so that you don't need to forward ports. Update your Archer's firmware. It got one either a month or few ago. Looks like they recently just added WPA-3. Undo any and all possible network changes you have done in the past in the router post WiFi setup. Sometimes it might actually be easier to reset your Archer to defaults and reconfigure. Now plug your xbox in wired and let it do it's NAT test. Strict might be ok with uPNP as long as it doesn't say 'Double NAT'.

If it's 'Double NAT' then check your Internet modem. Chances are it's a combo modem/WiFi router. Regardless you'll need to set it to bridge mode.

To be honest a lot of this is over my head. I purchased separate modem and router. I don't actually own an xbox, im playing xbox games pass over Windows 10, its all on my PC. However, I can't connect to friends and I've tried everything under the moon twice as far as trying to fix this issue (except the router). I have never done anything custom to my router nor change anything and in fact I did download the firmware yesterday already!

I'm just at a loss. I've never ever had an issue PC gaming with steam/epic/blizzard/discord etc etc. So I'm frustrated honestly.

I am going to suggest getting a google WiFi and using that as your router.
For years I have tried and failed at opening or forwarded ports for games or game servers. Always failed, the interfaces are frustrating and non descriptive as to what they do for most routers.
Google WiFi has an app that makes forwarding posts ridiculously easy.
Otherwise I have no suggestions because no matter what I read I have failed at.

I want to cry about my many failed attempts with two different routers.
Really irritating stuff to try to figure out if you have zero knowledge or training.

Here's a link from the TP-Link site that documents the process. It starts out with an explanation of why port forwarding is required that I personally think was lacking but it then goes on to show a step by step.

Have you tried turning on UPnP as suggested earlier? Go to Advanced > NAT Forwarding > UPnP and toggle it on. That should resolve your issues.

In the video below, it covers how to determine your WAN IP address. Write it down but do not post it here.
Now, go to whatismyip.com and see if what is shown beside 'My Public IPv4 is:' matches the IP address you wrote down earlier. If they match you are good. If they don't let us know. If they match enabling UPnP should work.

this would certainly be the smart way to do it.

This sounds like they require those ports be open from inside to the internet. Not creating a NAT rule to allow outside traffiic to an internal IP on those ports.
