I have the internet plugged into the router from the modem and an ethernet cable from the router into my pc. The internet light on the router is solid green and my pc is getting a hardware connection from the router but I have no internet. I'm also unable to access 168.192.0.1.

I have no idea where to go from here, please help :|.

EDIT:

HEY GUYS!!! Been so busy with work I haven't been able to get around to resolving this matter. I had some time today so I called D-link support and was able to resolve the matter. Since I wanted to hook up a router in my apartment so that I would have decent wifi signal but was trying to connect it to a wireless modem that was already preoccupying the 192.168.0.1 IP I was unable to do so. All I had to do was go into the router server(192.168.0.1), network settings and change the router IP address to 192.168.10.1 just as EJ257 suggested. Thank you guys so much for your help and I'm sorry that I haven't been able to stay as active on this thread as I would have liked to! Take care everyone!

Special shout out to Soholingo for corresponding with me promptly throughout the duration of this thread, I'm so sorry I wasn't able to do the same man!

A few things would seriously help:

ISP and connection type (Cable, DSL, Fiber, Cellular...)
Router brand
Try 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.254 - these are common addresses for routers.
Can you access anything on the network (server, other computer, NAS...)?

168.192.x.x is Window's IP address private range for when it does not get an IP address from the DHCP server. That tells me that your PC is not getting the needed DHCP information from your router. Which light is the solid green light on the router? If it's the Link light it should not be that way as it should be constantly blinking on most routers. Do you have the network cable that goes from the router into the modem plugged into the router port labeled WAN and the cable that goes from the router to the PC plugged into one of the other ports? As ericloewe stated we'll need more information.

I think it's 169, not 168. Looks like the OP simply transposed the 192.168 for each other.

I'm really sorry about my inactivity on this thread! I'm using a cable internet connection. The connection light is not solid it is in fact blinking, the one that looks like the earth. I'm using a d-link DIR-601. I'm able to access 192.168.0.1 but that hasn't really helped me at all. The cords are definitely all in the right way although the connection port is marked "internet" not WAN. The connection cable from the modem that I would normally plug directly into my pc is plugged into the internet port and there is an ethernet cable in one of the lan ports plugged into my pc.

Make sure your dns is working/configured properly.

Open up a command prompt and type this in:

ipconfig /all

share the results.

then type in

nslookup

share the results.

This will help us figure out what's going on...

Ipconfig /all seemingly did nothing. Nslookup put a window on my screen that looks as follows:

Default server: unknown
Address: 192.168.0.1

When I try to search a web page chrome states that the DNA lookup failed.

Excellent. If you know how to configure your ip address in windows, go to that section and add the following numbers to your dns section.

8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

These are google DNS servers and they will work provided you can reach them. Ideally you would pull dns from your ISP. This is generally automatically configured on your router, but it doesn't seem to be the case here.

Here is a link on how to change DNS in Windows 7.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Change-TCP-IP-settings

Keep us posted.

I applied these ip's to the dns section in IPv4 and it changed nothing then I attempted to apply them to IPv6 but it said they were invalid.

Just some extra information just in case. The network map goes CPU---?unknown?---router(DIR-601)-X-Internet. My task bar in the bottom right shows that "network 3" has no Internet access.

How many nics do you have in your computer, do you have a wireles card, and what OS are you using?

I am also concerned that you didn't get any information back when you typed:

ipconfig /all

Also no need to make any changes to ipv6.

Keep me posted I am paying attention to this thread.

Also this is not a new router, I've used it in the past and it worked just fine. All I had to do was the setup wizard for network and wireless network. The first time I opened 192.168.0.1 it might have been on a Mac though and now I'm running it On a pc. Also with the Internet and wifi lights blinking it still has no net connection when I hook up to its wifi from my cellphone

Nics? I'm running 7 pro 64 bit. When I type ipconfig /all one of those black console windows flashes on the screen momentarily. I don't have a wireless card.

ok, I am following you...

In the run field type

cmd

This will open up a command prompt window (black window). Type this into the window.

ipconfig /all

copy and paste those results to this thread.

This looks fine. I am thinking the issue is with your router.

When you have a chance delete the ipconfig information in this thread.

Do you know how to log into your router?
