Please help! MSI GF3 + Epox EP-8K3A = No Go :(

Hello everyone!

Please give me some hints what could be wrong in this setup:

XP 1800+
Epox EP-8K3A
Samsung PC2700 256 Mb
MSI GF3 Ti 200
3COM 905B NIC

The cpu is running at 50 degrees Celcius at 1800+ (1533Mhz right ?).
It started with some minor problems to get W2K installed... It went through half the copying of the files when it said one file was corrup and the installation had to be aborted. To get it going again I had to FDISK first.
Got W2K installed second try. Installed 4in1. Installed Detonator drivers from MSI CD. And voila!
When the computer is supposed to show the desktop it hangs. Every time exact same place.
I set the BIOS settings to "failsafe" = still No Go
Lots of tries with different things and LOTS of reboots.... AND finally at one startup it says that one system file is corrupt!


Now I set bios to "failsafe" settings and clock with 100 Mhz bus (= 1150 Mhz) (cpu runs at 40 Celcius).
I reinstall W2K again and do everything like every other time (4in1, w2ksp2, new ref driver from nVidia etc)
Still hangs at exact same place. (When it should bring up the win desktop at boot)

Is there something wrong with this graphic card?? or Motherboard ?? or the combo ? (CAnt imagine that the cpu is the fault)

Please please gimme me something to go on here....

Take the nic card out and try it again.

Could this really help since the network card was working when I was running windows in VGA mode before the graphic drivers were loaded?

I will anyway try this tonight.

strip it down to:
psu
mobo
single stick of ram
chip
heatsink
video
single hard drive
single cd drive on a diff channel than hd

reseat the heatsink and then try it out again.

Also, if its help you want, shouldnt this be in the technical support forum?
