In XP if you ever read a CD that had problems reading XP sets the mode to PIO to try to solve the problem but then no matter what you do it will stay in PIO unless you delete the Secondary controler and then have XP find it again. Then click on DMA and it will change out of PIO mode and that should solve your burning slow problem.
hey, i tried uninstalling and installing the secondary controller.
device 0 (the cdrw) went to DMA mode, while device 1 (dvd-rw) is still in PIO mode
this helped time a bit as i was able to burn a 800 mb cd in about 3 minutes but is the DVD-RW supposed to in PIO?
also, in my computer, both drives are detected as CD-drives and not RW's, what is that about?
lastly, i'm still not able to burn cd to cd, it errors immediatly. i have a feeling the dvdrw is supposed to be in DMA as well cuz i get the errors with the dvdrw is the source drive
