PLEASE HELP: Pinnacle Studio TV/Pro, older vs new

I have the original pinnacle studio pctv/pro card. According to pinnacle this will not work with xp. The newer studio pctv/pro card will work with xp. Can I use my card and get some sort of a firmware upgrade, or should i just get a new tv tuner card? Anyone reccomend the best out there? I don't want to pay thousands to get a professional card...

You could get a current card with S9 for under $120. Or get the MovieBox version in USB or DV for less than $200.

The old PCTV box was a windows 98 product and certainly does not have NT/XP drivers. The current PCTV cards are under $80 and work quite well. Choose the internal if you have the PCI room.

Thanks, so then there's something in the chipset that won't let me use the older card with XP?

They have one as a box set if you don't have Studio 9 yet. I think the issue with your old Studio DV card is that they don't have a WDM driver for it. But, if you check the forums at Pinnaclesys, you might find someone who has one working. Do register and it will allow you to search back more than 90 days.
