Please help with old cpu

I have an old Gateway 233 Pentium 2 I am trying to get to work correctly for my brother. The specs are
233 MHZ Pentium 2
STB Velocity 128 3d AGP
LINKSYS LNEPCI II Ethernet Adapter
Quantum Fireball 4.1 Gig HD
Windows 98 SE
When and only when I am downloading things, either my computer freezes the screen totally, or it just reboots. I have no idea why it could be doing this. Is it a sharing of IRQ ports? Here is my MSINFO if this helps. Thank you for any help.

Just thinking out-loud here....


I'm assuming you're "downloading" using the Ethernet card(NIC) and not a modem.

I've seen reboot issues relating to NIC's and installed software.....what software do you have installed?


Does the system reboot only when downing to your computer, or does it reboot other times?


Have you updated the drivers for your NIC?

Hi, Soul, nice to see you again. Well, I just changed the IRQ of the network card. It was shared with the video card and a USB controller. And the network card drivers are up to date as we speak. The card has no problems; I have been using it in my other computer for 3 years now. This IRQ conflict may have been the root cause of these problems. I'm not sure though.

Also, I have no software installed. This is a fresh installation of WIN 98 SE, no software yet =X

well it worked so far, it was the IRQ
