These are obviously not for home use. From TFA, the card has full-fledged 48/96-channel mixer for internal and external signals.

We uses a sound card that costs us around $1,200, for PA systems in a subway station, and that has 6 channels of quality mono output, and we uses another sound card to perform recording to lighten the load on the output sound card.

The card has been in active use for the past year and a half now without failure, and it's worth every penny.

Creamware has an excellent line and yes it's for pro use. The OP most likely isn't familiar with the professional trades.

Ya, full-length cards really aren't that rare. I've got a Promise SuperTrak SX6000.

Let's put it this way, if you're applying affects to real time audio, you may want real-time operation. Your operating system isn't real time, so you can't depend on software filters to provide constant performance when processing an autio stream.
