Please also pray that Portland has another "SNOW STORM 2004!!!" where the entire city halts and there is non-stop local TV coverage.

"snow storm" = 2" of snow with ice

I remember that, Ross. I was sent home from work early a couple days because my company at the time was situated at the top of a hill. I have memories of sliding down the hill sideways trying not to hit other parked cars and coming inches away from nailing one of the security guards' trucks. I was late to work one day because my truck couldn't get traction up the hill on top of all the ice. It took me DAYS to find tire chains because every single solitary store was out of stock. Each day they'd get a new shipment (local Fredy's got ~200/day) They were sold out by 8:30am -they'd been open an hour and a half. :Q I remember sliding on a curved road right off the road. Snow Pwns my 4x4! :Q

One of the days we were sent home early, my truck slid off to the side coming down the hill and got stuck flush against the curb at the head of the parking spaces down the hill. I remember having some chick I worked with get in and floor it while I ran around the back of the truck and pushed the ass end away from the curb. She let off the gas and the truck slid spinning (yes, tires NOT MOVING) down to the bottom of the hill. What was funny was that she set her coke can down on the ground a few yards down the hill and the truck spun over the coke can but didn't actually touch it. Left the can exactly where it was. Neat!

How about I pray for snow in the northern Rockies where it is really needed. Hopefully some of it will fall for you on its way there.

Why does the Northern Rockies need it more than any other place?

They are right in the middle of a severe drought. A vast majority of their yearly moisture comes from the winter snowpack.

Edit: This is a map of Boysen Reservoir. The water level is so far down from the drought that there is no longer any water where the highway crosses the lake in the south. The current shoreline is ~1 mile north of the highway, meaning the lake has receeded >3 miles to the north! Take a look at how big that lake is to get an idea of how much water that is.

Wyoming Basin Outlook Report June 1, 2004 - Boysen Reservoir is storing about 66 percent of capacity 393,600 acre feet) -- normally the reservoir is at 81 percent of capacity at this time of the year.

This means that it is currently down 5,700,000,000 cubic feet, or 0.04 cubic miles. :Q That is a lot of water.

Another article.

The snow strom was fun until I needed to go back to my Uni, then it was hell(made it out on the last flight to leave PDX for what was it? 3 days?). I'm fine with a storm, as long as it's over by January 1st so I can leave the state.
