Be that as it may, that's not a good representation of appropriate crimes and punishment. If you do little crimes, you pay for the little crimes accordingly. I thought that's how most civilized societies function anyways...

I read that post in its original thread, and although I thought that it was hateful, if it did warrant a ban it should have been dealt with that issue then and there.

I read a lot of narmer's posts and while I do agree that his racism is thinly veiled, I think his ban isn't warranted in these two threads. If looking at this from a legal angle, there is no conviction.

Yes, that post was racist but not necessarily hateful, which is (or should be) the requirement for punishment.

Then he should have made it clear he was with quotations and a smiley in order to distance himself from playing to the still bigoted racists amongst us.

The crudest forms of racism have been rightfully driven underground in this country, but still come out in forms where people then try to claim, "I was only kidding."

The sanctioned poster may well have been, but he was playing with fire and posted in a far too ambiguous way.

If anyone wishes to make themselves the heroic martyr for their right to post racial slurs, bring it on. You will no longer be welcome here.
