Please recommend a good socket 775 mobo for cheap. FSB OC is a priority.

Hi,

I have an e2160 on an ASRock 4coredual-SATA2 Rev.2 motherboard. Well, I have found that the mobo will go to 290 FSB which I think leaves some unused clocks on my CPU. What I want to do is get a cheap $120 US or less motherboard that will allow me to take this CPU as high as it will go on stock or cheap cooling. I am then going to get an e2200 or e2220 which have much higher multipliers and put it in the ASRock. Maximized cost/performance ratio is what I am after here. I don't game except on my PS3. This computer will be for video and audio editing, office, surfing, stuff like that.

What do you recommend ?

I came here with the exact same question, looking for a cheap P35 board to get a high FSB with on my Q6600. Except I already have a DS3L that I am returning because it randomly just forgets OC settings and puts everything back to defaults on a reboot. Also my board starts flaking out without heavy voltage tweaks over 375 FSB. Other than that, the DS3L is great...

So far my Neo2-FR has been great. Took my E6550 to 501fsb without batting an eye and i'm working on tweaking my Q6600 now but I need more cooling. I'm sure there are better mobos out there but for the cost, I'm very happy with my purchase.

I was looking at the Neo2, DFI Blood Iron, P5K SE... Too many options =P

It sucks that Abit stopped making the IP35-E and replaced it with... Nothing! =(

Also I was looking at one of the Asrock *1600* board however the Intel based ones have "feature" that prevents the CPU from being overclocked more than 25%.

Any of the mainstream P35 boards have been proven performers. Just pich the one that fits your budget and has the features you want. Many will chime in with why this one is better than that but overall, you can't go wrong with any of the main stream ones. Just look through here, see what others are using, what they have achieved and make a pick.
