I'm looking for a good Wi-Fi-based Internet streaming radio but it seems like there is no one good option. Everything has strengths and weaknesses. C Crain Radio is said to be a bitch to setup and program, etc. So, anyone got a radio they like?

I have the Grace Solo which I love. Very simple to use. The interface is a little slow, newer models are likely quicker to use.

It may be discontinued. When I bought it it was half the price listed here:

I've had lots of internet radios and it all depends on the quality you want. But IMO those all in one alarm/clock type internet radios suck. If all you're trying to listen to is talk radio by your bed at night they might be fine though.

What i'd do if I were you is get a quality network 80 Watt+ 2 channel receiver like Yamaha or Onkyo, and then choose a quality pair of bookshelf speakers to go with it. You'll be a lot happier in the long run. A lot of the newer network receivers will have internet radio as standard and android/iphone apps to let you control them from your cell phone.

Thanks NAC, I had been looking at the Graces on eBay.

You're probably right rchunter, all-in-ones aren't that great. But I heard CC Radio isn't that good either.

Old thread, but rather than starting a new one I might as well ask how you got on with your search?

I didn't realize how happy I was with my Squeezebox Radio until I sold it, and I didn't realize how difficult it would be to get something as good if not better. I'm currently using a Sangean WFR-28 and it's a poor substitute with too many annoyances to list here. The Grace radios look similar to the Squeezebox but i'm wondering if they are as good. The SB had nice little touches like auto-dimming display, a display that showed the current program (not just the station), and direct-on by pressing a preset button. The Sangean has none of these... or indeed any nice touches whatsoever.

Why not simpy use your smartphone and hook it up to a set of active speakers?
