Hello!

I wanted to know which will be a better buy between these 2 SSD's:

The OCZ Agility 3 60GB SSD or the Corsair Force 3 60GB SSD

I have read some reviews about users having trouble with the Corsair Force 3 SSD mainly regarding random BSOD's, perhaps anyone using a Force 3 can shed more light on this.

TIA
Regards.

They both use the same controller and slower Async Nand. Personally, I wouldn't buy either of them, but I'd go with the Corsair if there weren't any other options. The reason being that Corsair customer service is way better than that of OCZ.

Edit: How much are you potentially spending? I only ask because there are better 60/64GB options out there; e.g. Crucial m4, Samsung 830, Plextor M3/M3P/M5, etc,.

The problem is I can't find the M4 where I stay so that's not an option really. I have a choice between these 2. I agree Corsair has great customer support but does the Force 3 suffer from those random BSOD trouble's? This drive will primarily be used for installing and running games.

@Jocelyn84I suspect the choice is more cost based leaving these 2 options...

@OP
I wouldn't recommend as little as 60/64GB for OS and games unless you are really really sure you're not gonna run out of space - once Windows Vista or 7 (and small software like Office, AV, etc.) is on there you might as well write off 20GB leaving just 40GB for games, and depending on what you play you may find that it becomes a very tight fit very quickly, for example World of Warcraft would happily eat through more than half of that and most other big/mainstream games will push from 5-10GB each these days.

E.g: Batman Arkham Asylum - nearly 9GB
Assassin's Creed - nearly 7GB
GTA 4 - nearly 16GB
Guild Wars 2 - requirements state 25GB, but not quite that much used.... yet.
Left 4 Dead - nearly 5GB
Half Life 2 - nearly 5GB

The 'Vertex' 3 series from OCZ is a bit quicker than the Agility using the same controller hardware, but to be honest, you'd have to be benchmarking to really appreciate the added speed - if it was only fractionally more expensive it would be worth it otherwise don't worry.

I guess the Corsair is the 'better' choice in terms of company reputation (and sometimes it is worth it). But they are more or less the same. In terms of the BSOD problem, there has been many many firmware updates from several vendors which 'solve' the problem - some forums are littered with users who report it now fixed and others who still have the issue. Unfortunately it's a bit of a case of 'suck it and see'.

@vss1980: I have my Mushkin Callisto Deluxe 60GB SSD for my OS. I wanted to buy another 60GB SSD for my games purely.

Fair enough, if I remember rightly from most of those suffering the BSOD problems, they were mainly when the drive was the boot/OS drive.
I assume you're playing games that do a lot of data access in game / graphics texture streaming - that'll help with the quick random access and higher transfer rate.

Honestly, go to eBay and buy a 64GB Samsung 830, its pretty rock solid, cheap, and ultra reliable. Got mine for $50 shipped for the wife's laptop. My laptop on the other hand has a 512GB Samsung 830 + 480GB OCZ Vertex 3 Max IOPS for the laptop.

There haven't been any real issues with stability in the Force series SSDs in quite a while. The firmware is very mature now.
