Merry Christmas all!
I am getting a jump start on my New Year's resolution, which is to start blogging . I recently switched over to hostgator and am loving it! Unfortunately, they give soooo many choices and I don't know which CMS to specialize in. I really don't have the gumption to experiment with each one, so I was wondering if anyone here had some recommendations and first hand experience with any of them.
My experience is I have been a ASP.NET developer for the last 4 years doing line of business apps. I have programmed against SharePoint (what a hellish experience that was....though SharePoint guys can make BIG bucks in defense). I just recently started tinkering with MVC and I think it is AMAZING! Anyways, back on track...
So I have experience programming, but I want to emphasize, my goal is not to hack this CMS to make it do the tricks I desire. I want one that already performs those tricks. Like a slutty girlfriend with a shady past =). If it comes down to it I feel comfortable hacking at something, but I would like to split my time 95% (writing / finding content) and 5% fighting the CMS itself. To complicate things I will be working with some friends/family who are not the most computer savvy..
The blog's structure that I have run across that I really like is lifehacker.com, which I googled uses MoveableType? Unfortunately, that is not one of the choices listed.
I understand this a very subjective question, but would love to hear from some of the more veteran guys on the board.
I have attached a screenshot of my choices...I think.
