Please recommend me a new pair of headphones

I'm looking for a semi-decent pair of cans since my old ones have finally crapped out on me. I'm not looking to spend any more than $50, I would just like something kinda nice to be able to watch movies or play video games with so I won't wake up any sleeping roommates. I like the big comfy ones that encase your entire ear. Any suggestions? I don't even know what brands are good. Thanks in advance!

I used to be a fan of the ear-enclosing ones, but on a friend's recommendation I picked up a pair of Koss Portapros from amazon for about $40, and they're really great. Even though they're the type that sit outside your ear, there's barely any sound leakage to the outside, and the bass is a lot better than I expected. They're marketed as portable headphones for your iPod or whatever, but I use them for just music listening and miscellaneous stuff on my computer

It's kinda hard to get nice big comfy earphones that won't disturb your rooommates for $50, but if you can, look for a used pair of Audio-Technica A500s. $50 might be a stretch, but if you're lucky, you can hopefully find one.

If not, though, something like the Porta-Pro is really nice too. They're ugly as all get out, but sound great.

For $75, I'd recommend the SENNHEISER HD 280. Best headphones I've ever put on. However it needs a few hours to "break in" in order for the sound to reach its potential...the sounds are a bit thin/brittle when brand new.

Oh yeah, if you like heavy BASS sounding headphones, then these aren't for you. These headphones are more for professional music "monitoring". So if you want pristine and clean sounds, and hear music "unaltered", then these I will highly recommend to you.

If you have the money, I would go for the HD280s, but if not, the PX100 sounds great for the price.
