Please recommend me a nice gaming LCD Monitor

Budget is about 550.

Need to find a nice gaming LCD, either 17 inch or 19 inch.

Contrast ratio, response time, other features.........

what to look for, which is the best price/performance choice.

That doesnt mean much, as I've rarely see a negative review on newegg. Apparently they screen them.

Anyways, I vote Hyundai L70S. Best gaming, and all around LCD around for the price.

Anyways, I vote Hyundai L70S. Best gaming, and all around LCD around for the price.

They screen out the nut jobs and profane commentary but not the star rating...if it's a well thought out negative review it's there in Neweggs products. Besides you'll see some known names there I trust if you look...

Probably teh best LCD out there is the one i have..... 12 MS RESPONSE TIME !!!!! Its great I really like... absolutley no ghosting on games as doom 3 on high settings !!...... its great

I just got an ACER AL1731, it is great for playing Joint Operations and UT2004 with no ghosting. 20MS response time, very bright and has a aluminum frame and handle. Perfect for LAN parties.

Isn't the Samsung 710T a 17" LCD? if so, I would recommend something 19" or greater.

Agreed. I don't think I could stand getting a LCD smaller than my current monitor. A 19" LCD would give me an inch more viewable which would be sweet. I would go with the 16ms 19" BenQ. It is suppose to be good and I am looking at it quite a bit right now for when I decide to get an LCD.

i would never cap a monitor. In my personal opinion, it is perhaps the most important part of a computer. Size does matter, and it goes an awefully long way. I have a sony hx 17 inch... and i regret not having spent another 600 and purchased an apple cinema display... the size increase and the unprecendented sytle and quality simply justifies the price in my opinion. No monitor out there compares.

However, if you are running on a tight budget... and there is absolutly no choice, i would concur with the samsung that has repeatedly shown up.

i personally like the nec 1765. It has such a vivid picture. At lan parties, people are amazed it's a lcd. The hard plastic front and folding foot aren't bad either. I have two, and play doom3, battlefront, dawn of war, farcry, and love the picture and i've never had ghosting issues.

Stay away from PVA type LCDs.

They have nice viewing angles and fast response times, but still look like utter crap. It's a bit too difficult to shop for an LCD based on specs. Because PVA is an example of 12ms meaning D*CK.

The best way is to go out and experience one for yourself.

I don't understand why anyone would want to go with 19" over 17" except if you want the best contrast ratio possible while sacrificing on other aspects...I guess if you are blind and/or refuse to wear glasses then I'd understand but even then if you want a larger screened LCD I'd go with 20" or larger and get the resulting larger desktop workspace as well as 1600x1200 would be much nicer to have than 1280x1024.

I'm using a 12ms BenQ 767-12 and all I can say is that I wouldn't change this thing for anything. No ghosting and great colours (specially black).

I said that I was disappointed by the performance of my card, and gave it 3 stars. It's not up after 3 months.

I'm extremely happy with my Dell 2001FP. One of the best purchases I ever made.

I hooked up my old Samsung 19" CRT as a secondary display for photo editing and such. Mostly it just gets used for watching a DVD or TV on the second display now.
