So I decided that it's easier to buy a new motherboard than to deal with Abit's useless RMA service (long story here, don't ask)

That said, Can anyone recommend a stable motherboard for a 939 Socket CPU?

I'm not going to overclock or tweak anything, I just need a stable motherboard that runs well and hopefully can last me a few years
No particular budget, as long as it's less than $300

The hardware I'll be using:
- AMD x2 4400+
- 2 sata drives
- One PCI 16x video card
- 4 sticks of DDR RAM
(I don't care about sound, USB, or ethernet)

Thanks in advance

I second both of the above. The Asus A8N-E was a joy to setup in my wife's computer. I have used both Tyan and Supermicro server boards, and they were wonderful to have, so long as you aren't overclocking or anything. The consumer level boards might be a bit different though.

Asus A8R32-MVP. I can say that it is the best motherboard for socket 939 I've owned. While it is crossfire, you don't have to use it, and more of that, support external SATA for sata enclosure. The ATI chipset run quite cool, no annoying fan, and the performance is on par with nforce motherboard. I've used nforce4 motherboard before, and the hot chipset with annoying fan got me tired of them.

Just out of curiousity, what ABIT board are you having problems with? I would suggest the ABIT AT8 32x as its got great features and going for a great price if you can find one.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Are most ASUS boards reliable or some of them more than others?

I was using the Abit AN8 Fatality SLI board.
It was well packaged and great features, but horrible reliablity and Abit's support was very poor.

I'm using the A8n-SLI Deluxe, and I haven't had a single problem. OCs well, stable as can be. If I had to do it all over again, I would have gotten the premium though. If only for the stock heatpipe for the chipset, vs the passive cooler I added to the deluxe.

Okay so should I go with the DFI LanParty or a Tyan board?
What do you guys think?
The price difference is $75

By the way this isn't a server, it's a workstation that always in use (although I don't see how that makes any difference)

(..and the Asus board is constantly out of stock, that's why I'm not considering it)

I'm a supporter of the LanParty's for 939, except when you are going to use all four memory slots.

Some of the DFI's had a problem a while back when using all four slots (would not boot, would not see all sticks, etc). Also had to run at T2,.... dunno, maybe they have straightened out now?
