Please review my purchase before I buy. Should I change anything?

Some questions about the ram. I am not sure what to look for in timings. The lower the better, or vise versa.

With these nforce boards, should i have 4 512 sticks or 2 1gb sticks? Is this 2 dual channels or is it just plain old dual channel

Regarding the 7800 GTX. I read at a few places that 2 gigs of ram is really needed to take advantage of the card itself, as well in some games (BF2 - F.E.A.R.)

Other then that, is there anything you would change? I am so out of the hardware loop in the past 3 years.

First upgrade in a while.

MOBO and CPU combo look good
I guess you have a case and PSU?
I wouldn't go with the OCZ performance, Go with some Corsair Value Select or step up to some OCZ Platinum EL Rev. 2 if you want some good timings.
Video card is good
I wouldn't waste my time with a Raptor, too much money!!! I own two Raptors in my machine right now, they do feel a little bit quicker especially with boot times, but it's really a waste of money trust me. Go with a nice Seagate 7200.8 or something.

Dont listen to gamerexpress, the Raptors are good, but if you dont have a HDD for plain storage, Id get one because there isnt much space in a Raptor, UT2k4 takes up roughly 7gig, D3 takes another few gigs, and so on. If you ever need to put pictures or video or music on your computer, you would be much happier with a large HDD along side the Raptor.

Memory looks good, 2x1gig is the way to go. AMD mobo require you to put the memory into 2T timings with 4 sticks, which turns into a 1-3% performance loss. The lower the timings, the better. As far as I know, there is no such thing as old dual channel memory, just single channel and dual channel. You dont need to worry about it.

evga 7800GTX has a mobo combo, $550 or so I think for a SLI board. Look at that because it might be cheaper than the cpu/mobo combo.

I think i saw that combo on newegg but it doesnt mention the mfg of the motherboard. I have no idea if its good quality.

You mentioned that the lower the timings the better right? Well on newegg the most expensive ram has timings of like 5 5 5 8 or something like that.

I know price doesnt equil performance, but it did confuse me a little.

I never said the Raptor wasn't a good drive, I own two as I already said, do you own one??

I am simply saying that it's a waste, look at some of the testing done with that drive, there are a few other drives out there that are less money and are just as fast!!!! plus they have more storage!!!!

Don't tell him not to listen to me, do some research first before you say that!!!

Here is a decent link, it shows some comparisons of some popular drives. Take a look at the 7200.8 performance (you don't have to get the 400GB one) also look at the Diamond Max 10 drive.
