Please review this song that I'm a part of!!!

[Piano Man]

The band name is Disstrick, and the music is a mix of Neo-Soul, Go-Go, Jazz, Funk, R&B, and Hip-Hop. Both myself and BullDog7000 are in the band along with 4 other members hailing from Washington D.C. and other parts of Iowa (weird mix, eh?). We just got done doing some preliminary recording, and the first piece that is nearly done is "Discover Me" which was written by Jeremiah and Carlos. Take a look at the new website. It just got put up today and isn't nearly finshed, but I just want you guys to take a listen to "Discover Me" and tell me what you think.

Edit: Got it...it's interesting. The music is pretty good jazz, but I can't say I like the lyrics.

I guess it's just not my style, I find it kinda boring. Seems fairly well done though. There's on e prt in the middle of the song where it picks up, but the rest of it just seems boring.

Yea, it does pick up, and we noticed that right when it happened, but I had to take off to play a jazz combo gig so we could only do 1 take.



Oh, by pick up I thought you meant it rushed. Well it did both.

There are a couple of little things that need a little work, The transitions are a little off but other than that,
The harmony is excellent, Your lyrics are easy to understand (refreshing)
Your web page needs to give a little more information where you are performing, in fact a lot more. Where in the heck is this place that you are performing, it might be in lower slobovia for all I know.

The website just got put up this morning, so it probably won't look anything like it does now in a couple of weeks. Yea, the transitions need fine tuning. Funny thing is, that recording is probably only the 8th time we've ever played together. This band has potential IMO.

Glad some people like our stuff..... more will come once piano man gets his accessory piano/organ/keyboard parts inserted into the other tunes.

ok , the sound reminds me of a lot of adult-contemporary or smooth jazz radio fare. I'd give the music and performance an 8.5 on a scale of 10. The vocals get a 6.5, the lyrics get a 2. The sentiment expressed in the lyrics is nice, just needs to be handled a little better.

no insult intended, I was just trying to compare the sound to which of my local (Kansas City) stations would play it. Probably more a comment on the state of radio today.........
