This stuff makes me sick. There is absolutely zero reason for this kind of cruely. They should be in a field and live a normal life up until the point they are ready for slaughter, which should be a quick and painless death. I don't know what this has to do with Walmart though, sadly all meat farms are the same way.

Iams also subjects cats and dogs to similar conditions in their testing facilities.

Yup. This problem is not exclusive to Walmart. Behind the curtains, literally every high-profile meat supplier in the US involves this kind of animal torture and cruelty. Most people would have nightmares if they saw where their meat actually came from and how it was treated.

You don't solve this problem with petitions.

You solve this problem by refusing to purchase sub-standard meat products; despite the much lower price tags.

I LOL'd! Castration is considered "standard practice" for nearly any livestock. Tail cutting is also standard practice for raising pigs. Also, pinning this on "Wal-Mart" like there's some Wal-Mart farm out there is laughable! Your local Wal-Mart shops the local sources just like nearly any other butcher or meat supplier in your area that isn't doing the whole "no factory farms!" thing. No one expects Wal-Mart to be Whole Foods.

A few idiots mistreating animals has little to do with "Wal-Mart." Even trying to link it to them for the attention makes me laugh. Seeing it work on so many gullible people makes me laugh. I am just a big ball of laughter right now.

If it causes bacon prices to increase where do I sign a petition against this petition?

This.

There is a reason. It is cheaper.

Is this video legit? They found that actor (who ironically normally plays a complete asshole in his movies).

Is this really so common? is it legal? Surely whacking a piglet's head against the ground isn't an approved practice to put it down?
Yeah, let's go after the retailer, never mind the people actually DOING the thing we hate.
You don't pay the supplier. You have zero leverage over him. You pay Walmart.

The retailer represents the easiest link of the chain to go after, they're the ones who are trying to guard their reputation (usually). For all you know, a load of other products in your fridge are the result of the sort of practices you might object to, but because the product goes through several companies before it gets to you, you have no idea what has happened to it.

If the suppliers get the idea that their customers don't want (insert dodgy practice here) to occur, and they're willing to change supplier to get what they want, the suppliers will use their influence to ensure that it stops.

It's kinda like the shity dogy treats that come from China and kill and sicken dogs. Is the US going to bomb the doggy treat plant in China? Nooooo, you go after Petsmart. Don't carry the damn product! Replace!

When every mainstream retailer has the same damned dog treats, you don't single one out as the "monster." Also, your example is a product at every one of a particular chain's stores. Wal-Mart sources meat locally in every market like any other grocery store and this particular supplier only supplies a fraction of their stores. Hell, many of their stores don't even carry meat! I know: They're asking Wal-Mart to make sure that none of their suppliers do this, but it's not like they all do this and are all that bad. Half the things they present as "bad" in that video... aren't (tail cutting and castration).

why not go after the manufacture instead of those selling it (who have NOTHING to do with it)?

This 20 minute video explains gestation cages?

Well, do you go after the drug dealer? The manufacturer or the supplier?

If you want to split hairs, you should go after the consumer. Treat the drug addicts and the number of drug dealers would dwindle.

Treat the average consumer's insatiable appetite for cheap meat, and there wouldn't be abused animals. Farming used to be a lot more humane, but then we traded lower cost for humanity. I know this thread is about mistreated pigs, but conglomerated agriculture has hurt a LOT more than livestock, and we only have ourselves to blame for not wanting to pay the cost of farming done properly.

No, it wasn't because people wanted cheap meat, it's because producers want more profits. It's called profit for a reason. As the video describes other stores don't buy from these despicable places that raise pigs. Any animal that will be eaten should at least have a dignified life until there time is up. Cows get better treatment living on a pastor!

As to the drug supplier comment, we do treat the drug addict. But like peoples craving for meat or food there will always be a demand.

Who have nothing to do with it????? Well, if you see a recalled crib on the news do you buy that crib at the store? I would think customers would expect that the store get rid of that product and/or fix the problem. Now, do we bomb the China dog food plant for making the bad doggy treat? No, no we don't.

Most of the places they listed were restaraunts and not food stores or meat markets. Of course Whole Foods or Trader Joe's isn't comparable to Wal-Mart, but any other average grocery chain IS. They want you to ignore that the average grocery store butcher gets their meat there too by pointing out that Wal-Mart does and "all these other places" don't. Reading your latest comment, you make it sound like no one else buys there but Wal-Mart so you are as wrong it manipulative as they are.

I recall a mass amount of compaines that were not buying from these types of slauter houses were store chain providers. Kmart was mentioned I believe Costco and Kroger.

LOL! Once again, they are almost ALL restaraunts and exclusive/upscale places (Whole Foods), exactly like I said. I've never even heard of buying meat at K-Mart. ConAgra and Kraft are huge suppliers to those restaraunts and grocery chains, so they're obviously promoting themselves over the competition by refusing to supply such meat, which is completely different! Kroger and Safeway are most relevant followed by Target (very few Target stores carry meat/grocery).

Actually, is Safeway a supermarket or a drug store?

So easy to manipulate the masses with a few logos and some production quality. I can't bring g home 5lbs of beef from McDonald's.
