IIRC, Mark Meadows also called for releasing Strzok's closed-door testimony/transcripts, which was surprising, and even allowed that it be screened for anything that might damage the ongoing investigation or anything personally embarrassing to Mr. Strzok.
Goodlatte or Ross or some other gopper then blathered on about whether Strzok would allow the release of ALL his text messages, not just work-related. Why does this guy get to be under a microscope again?
If anyone hasn't seen this, I urge you to watch the first 10 minutes of Maddow from last night. She went into great detail about how Strzok led a 10-year investigation into the Boston Conspirators, basically the Russian agent couple that inspired the show "The Americans". Fascinating stuff. Here's what I got out of this--Strzok was someone who enjoyed taking his time. He built a meticulous case collecting 1000s of pieces of evidence over a 10 year period. He was in no rush--he wanted to see what these agents might do. Fast-forward to Trump-Russia investigation and he's racing against the clock, trying to build a case with urgency, and running out of time. A biased investigator would have leaked to the press. Full stop. He didn't do that. Page didn't do that. They couldn't jeopardize the investigation. Strzok knew they had to take their time, even if it meant Trump getting elected in the process.
