I've been using the mobile site a lot lately on my Nokia N95 and realized that I should have added one feature a long time ago: "Bottom of Page" and "Top of Page" links to the message view. So those are now in there.

Hi everyone. I've made the initial updates needed to adapt the AnandTech Forums mobile website I wrote a while back to vBulletin. It's not working 100% yet (logging in and replies need to be looked at), but I thought that while we're betaing one site we might as well beta this one.

The URL:

http://atforums.mobi/beta/

Let me know if it's awful and/or any suggestions you may have. Thank you.

New Features

- Paging added for threads. Long threads with hundreds of replies now load in a reasonable amount of time; thread pages have 40 replies max.
- Touchscreen device friendly. Big buttons!

Woot Woot! My blackberry browser sucks for web surfing, maybe your new beta version will do well.

Thanks for all your work  I spent a good year using atforums.mobi on the train home.

1. The beta URL showed the forums / categories, but when I clicked on one to enter, no threads were shown. The non-beta URL worked fine, though.

2. T-Mobile G1, using the default browser. Looks great to me.

3. Bigger, smaller, just right? The default was a little big for me, but zooming out a couple of times fixed that.

4. Maybe include the option for more topics per page? You could tuck it at the bottom so as to not take up any valuable space. Or at least default to maybe 30 instead of 20 per page? And I'm used to the poster's name being easily noticed, could you reformat the messages so that's the first field which appears on the left rather than the date and time of the post?

This

I liked the looks of the beta side better than the plain text site.

Using it on my LG Dare and looks a lot better than the text one. But more importantly...it FUNCTIONS a lot better than the text one. LG Dare is a touch-screen device.

Let us know when the VB beta forums are back up, and I'll give it a whirl. As far as the initial menu with the different categories, that looks nice.

I'm using the built-in browser on the Samsung Eternity.

1. works fine, but it doesnt auto scale to my screen like the original atforums.mobi does...you have to manually scroll left and right
2. sprint htc touch pro (PPC-6850) using opera mobile
3. font size is a bit big, but its just fine for me. i'd like to see it just a tad smaller...
4. didnt see anything...probably because none of the threads are up!

I tried it on my AT&T touch and it works fairly well, although there is of course the issue of not displaying anything as others mentioned. I used IE Mobile to try it out but I haven't tried any other mobile browsers with it yet.

im sure it would look great on my storm, but Storm+ opera browser + anandtech forums = Perfectness.

very fast, like no joke, it is as fast as when I go on my desktop. and it comes out to a regular screen.

I admire your time and effort into this, but for me, i'll stay the way I am...

now.... if vb is shitastic for my phone, then I will probably go to your thing

It looks fantastic on my iPhone, but all I can see are the category listings. There are no threads at the moment.

I like it! Two things though:

can I login and post? Or am I missing the link?
I wouldn't mind seeing page x of x at the top of each thread

Yes, as Jschmuck2 - I don't see any links to login and post.

How about the ability to send PMs?

Looks great on the iPhone.

I would like to see links in posts a different color. Right now it is kind of hard to tell they are links, and not just someone bolding their sentences.

I love they way the new mobi site looks over the old on though.
