Weak at Doom 3? Did you see the latest figures at Toms? Its only 4-6 fps slower than nVidia now (6800U vs X800XT PE) and it annihilates nVidia in HL 2. The tables have turned little guy:

Actually its only a few percent difference between the diff in hl2 and doom 3 for the top two cards that u can actually buy today (6800u/x800xtpe). But in any case, ati has improved quite a bit. Maybe nv will in hl2 after given the same amount of time, or maybe not. who knows. anyways, the only problem with ati is their ability to fill the midrange. I dont see any other error on their part with their products.

Thats a really stupid poll, Half-Life 2 wasn't that great and neither was Doom III. Nvida sucked as they had no $300 price point. Well, they did but its a crappy card.

half-life 2 definantly was that great! what are you talking about? other than far cry there's no other game that beats it. only part that i didn't like was the end, but it still was a great game with excellent graphics. but of course far cry is better so i voted for it.

and i assume you're talking about pci-e with when you mentioned nvidia?

If this is ture, then you should give this tread a different Title besides "Vote Against ATI",, maybe like "Please don't vote for ATI or Nvidia" or something like that. But instead you only ask people to vote against ATI.

Beside with the option we have left on the poll after ATI and Nvidia is "S3 and SIS", are you telling me those last 2 company did better than ATI or Nivdia?.

I say ATI and Nvida both did well this year, and both should get something like a tie.

I wasn't going to vote, but after reading your post I just feel like voting for ATI

i would like to ask you kindly please vote against ATI, this is for ATI's sake, their performance wasn't upto par this year, nor were their supply quantities, if we voted against ATI (i am not asking to vote for nvidia coz they did horribly too) we would encourage them to improve, as we don't like them to be behind competition and they were this year.

I voted ATI,their drivers have been excellent in general and regular,unlike the competition ,btw I do own a Nvidia card as well so I`m not biased.

There is nothing wrong with 6800NUs Tabb. They offered better performance than last years best for $300, and the ones that unlocked (over half) offered much better performance than last years best.

Compared that to what other companies offered at the $300 price point. Oh yeah, you can't, because there wasn't anything else.

2) No surprise that AMD is beating Intel into the ground.(Voted AMD)

4) Best gfx card maker? They are all really the same. I voted for ATI since mine is BBA
5) I was a nivida person from the TNT to the GF3, loved my 9800 PRO and now X800 Pro better (Voted ATI)
6) Why is everyone voting for WD? I voted Seagate, I have yet to have a single drive fail on me.
7) Best high performance system? The one I built! Was forced to vote for Falcon....
8) Best MB, voted for Abit tho Im surprised Asus is doing so well...
9) Best Notebook? I have no idea, voted for Sony
10) Best Memory? Voted for Corsair. Cant beat my PC2700 ram running at 215Mhz

I voted Nvidia. Even though both were in short supply this year at least the Nvidia cards had "some" high end availability, while ATI was totally sparse. Add that to ATI's decision to somehow forget about the AGP market too quickly there was no other way for me to vote.

Plus you have to give Nvidia some credit, they made a great comeback after the FX fiasco to come out with a great, competitive product. It's a strange situation though as if I had my choice between a 6800ultra or x800xt/x800xtpe, I would take the x800xt/x800xtpe only because I find the ATI drivers more solid and I only play one OpenGL game. The Nvidia GT line made the difference this time overall though as ATI had really nothing to compete with them.

You know what it is? Sony laptops aren't "terrible", it's just all the proprietary BS they have installed on them from the factory. The thing that truly sucks about Sony is their support, or lack of. They inspire dreams of oneday becoming good enough to be called non-existant. I had to get a VAIO repaired for one of my staff. I had to ship it out to Sony. It took 63 days to get it back I sh!t you not. THEN, I had to send it back again because they didn't fix the problem. Not to be gross, but I should have taken a crap on the laptop and sent it back to them the second time. I am a fan of laptops for what I do. Dell seems to treat me very well, and toshiba is too expensive for my needs. Just my little .02 cents.
