Mainstream America is diverse and certainly not "Christian".

Damn! That's news to most of us.

What is "mainstream" then, if not Christian? Hebrew? Muslum?Hindu?

Get a clue, the US is rooted in Christianity, like it or not. Check your history books.

I don't know!!! You guys can't handle the words "under God" without getting all worked up....How could you handle me????? And Yes, it really is perfectly rounded...just ask psycho!!! Big, beautiful, sexy, and yes, very round and touchable!!!!

"Under God" our country was founded for freedom of religion and restraint against tyrany. The words "under God" doesn't constitute the Christian God, but whatever God you want to believe in...whether it be Buddha, Allah, or no god at all. I hope that one day we can get over all this PC crap.

So,
Believing in god = intelligence?

Lol, no- I should have rephrased that, sorry. Make that "level of patriotism".

So because I'm agnostic, and believe our great nation should have a religiously neutral government as per the original intent of our Founding Fathers, you think to question my patriotism?

Tell me, what have you done to defend our nation? I served four years in the Army as an anti-tank gunner. How dare you think to question my love for this country simply because I wish to maintain what our Founding Fathers intended.

Still waiting on a response from the ever-almighty

You forget, this is Anandtech we're talking about. Twenties? You're more likely to get offers of used parts from grandma's 486 system, and pickup lines like, "hey gorgeous, you wanna come over to my place and see my case mod? I installed a neon case light to match the PCB on my GF4..."

"Rooted in" does not mean "is".

Of the 300 hundred million Americans here, how many are practicing "Christian"?

And you can keep you "get a clue" insults to yourself.

Anyway, the "proof" will be when the US fails to pass an ammendment (they couldn't even agree on flag burning) and the US Supreme court upholds this decision and you will have to add "under God" yourself. Wait and see. I hope to be here to say I told you so and watch you try to explain why you are eating your words.

Really, how is that? Maybe if you weren't reciting the constitution, you would know that these judges are appointed for life. And maybe if you took your head out of your A$$ for a minute, you would know that the judge who wrote the ruling is a Nixon appointee.

By "in the year" do you mean by the end of 2002, or within 365 days of today?

365 days from today

Maybe you should take your head out of your A$$. Judges can be removed.

Article III, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution states:

The judicial power of the United States, shall be vested in one Supreme Court, and in such inferior courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. The judges, both of the supreme and inferior courts, shall hold their offices during good behaviour, and shall, at stated times, receive for their services, a compensation, which shall not be diminished during their continuance in office.

What the hell does that matter? LH still has his head up his ass, unless he has insider information that the supreme court is going to replace judges all over the country with conservative ones.

I am going to be very emotionally honest here.

I do apologize if I have offended anyone who feels that the words "under God" is unconstitutional. I find that our finding values (freedom of religion, etc) is very important to whom American's really are. I also view the words "Under God" to mean whatever God you believe in. I don't care if its Buddha, Allah, or Satan. As long as you are a loyal American, follow the rules of law and life; I could care less which God you believe in or whether you believe in a God at all. All I care about is coming home to a family of true Americans. Yes, you are my brother, yes you are my sister and I would die for you to live and be an American. Does the words "under God" really matter? No, the words of respect does matter though. Maybe we should say "Under America" Respect for Americans! Yes, Respect for Life!

Love ya Harvey and Red!!!! My two favorite buddies!!!!

Actually that would be happening if Dashole would stop blocking presidential judicial appointees.

Where does the 225 million "Christian" figure come from? The census bureau doesn't give this information.

The nearest figure I can find is about 150 million adults. So for about 50-75 million people, the expression "under God" has no meaning whatsoever.

I also view the words "Under God" to mean whatever God you believe in.
If I hadn't of found out that the words "Under God" were added in 1954 I wouldn't have cared. I truly believe that the Pledge should be as it was intended and not what Frightened Politicians changed it too during the Red Scare era of our Country.
