Plextor 12/10/32A Trouble..

Hi, I am having trouble burning CD's with my drive. I use CDRwin to burn them, and the program says the burn has completed successfully...but when i try to run the CD's, it shows that there is no CD in either my burner or dvd drive when i try to load them from either.
Once I burned a CD and was told it had corrupt info, but thats about as much of a change as I can get it to make.

I am running a 1.2 Tbird at 1.3
Asus A7M266
and the Plextor is set as a slave on te secondary IDE channel.
I have upgraded the firmware and drivers multiple times, any ideas?

Is it a legal copy of CDRWin? I've heard that sometimes the incorrect serial # will still be accepted but will in turn make all your burns bad.

Right on illkid If you have an incorrect serial# it will burn the cd just great, but the name of the cd will be "CD" and it will look like it does not have anything on it.

well, when i put the CD in a drive it doesnt even have the name "CD"
It will always stay as Compact Disc (E or (F
and yes, it is a legal copy

I went through the hazzle of trying to get A Plextor 12x CDRW to work with a CD-ROM also in the system. The problem according to Plextor, with the tech I talked to at least, is the CD ROM. It seems the generic ones are just not going to work. I tried every combination and then just took the CD ROM out. The output from the CD ROM is not high enough quality for the Plextor anyhow. You get better quality copying to an image on the Hard drive and then back to the Plextor, as you can guess. What I haven't tried is adding an IDE card like the ATA 100 varity from Maxtor, so these rascals can have their own channel. Is it worth it though? Has anyone tried this?

could be the same stupid problem I had with fireburner, it was set to "test" and not to "burn" so it just test wrote the cd and nothing was put on it. I tried that for few times before I figured it out.

btw. I have the same burner, use winoncd that came with it, tried nero but all the burns got bad so I just use winoncd now.

I tried burning again..whenever I try to access the CD after being "successfully" completed, it will say F: is not accessible; incorrect function..or something to that effect. I have tried burning a few different things, so it is not corrupt files.
I just tried burning with fireburner, and everything worked a ok. I guess I have a faulty version of cdrwin (because I assure you, it's legal)
