You guys are insane. Heh. First off newegg is sold out of the retails that are $230. The Oems are $215. But there are no coupons for newegg. And staples does not carry that drive.

XGamer if you're not going to take time to read the entire thread, people here aren't going to do your footwork for you - read the thread....

Ive Read it fine, thx ass. Does Staples not show the 16x Plextors on their website? Or out of stock maybe? I see the coupons fine, I dont see how anyone is buying them off Staples for $206 tho. Newegg is $230 for retail, and they are sold out and also do not have any coupons.

Ok, I guess I missed the one persons post who says they do not have them on the site and have to call. Happeneds when yer shopping at 4am.

That's nice....

I inform you that the information IS in the thread and you still call me an ass.... even though you admit in your response that you didn't read the whole thread - nice touch. Don't count on people here helping you when the information you need isn't in the thread....

Also, when people go out of their way to tell you about a good deal, is it their responsibility to answer every question in a thread when the information has already been posted in that same thread? I don't think so. I could have chosen to simply ignore your post (as others had) and then you may have never figured it out. It gets annoying when the same questions get asked over and over again because people are simply too lazy to read the thread. This is a common a problem here, as many here seem to feel they have some preordained right to ask everyone else to do their homework for them, versus wasting their own precious free time reading the thread for information.

Btw, the "the one persons post" you missed was by the originator of the thread - the person that's probably most likely to have the answer to your question. If you're not going to read the entire thread, you at least need to read posts by the originator....

Who/What is Ingram Micro?

They are the distributer for OEM's - they ship and receive products from OEM's to the retailers or e-tailers. A way of reducing pricing and bolstering profits!

OUTSTANDING FIND!!!!

FYI, I ordered one this evening and the CSR said newegg was out of stock (but she said to try back later since newegg just had them yesterday and she wasn't sure when they update their site).

In any case, I PMd w/ Compuplus for 227 (w/ ship PM was 242) and used 40 off to get it for about 217 Total after tax.

Thanks DJCHEM

Hmm, I remember trying to get this deal the month that Plextor put out the 40/16/10... Staples said they didn't have it yet
I just bought the Plextor from Computers4Sure for $245 shipped and received next day (thanks UPS!)... darn, I probably can't use Blue on this one. I recall that NECXDirect has the Plextor and of course, so does Buy.com... for those looking for sites to PM with (thought Staples required in stock?)

I guess I must repeat again. THE DRIVE IS NOT LISTED ON THE SITE. Read my first post for details. If there's a $40 off coupon to sweaten the deal, more the power to you. But $200 + Tax is a great deal for this incredible drive. Trust me...I love it too death.

Thanks for the z-buy.com info. I'll update the original post since I hear newegg.com may or may not have these in stock.

Lol...I feel you man. Getting the first initial price match on a hot deal is almost next to impossible. They come up with some of the craziest excuses. One guy told me his Internet Explorer wasn't working. LoL.

Anyway, the Staples Item# for the SMC BARRICADE CABLE/DSL ROUTER 4-PORT 10/100MBPS BROADBAND ROUTER is IM1034501.

How about one for the Plextor 12/10/32 EIDE? May have a possible PM for the Plextor in the $160-$165 range, and both are much more "solid" PMs than for the SCSI version....

Try this item# for the PX-W1210TA (Plextor 12x/10x/32x).
IM1005680

Let me know how it goes. I'll add the 12x to the original thread too.

I just broke down and got one... PM with z-buy worked fine. i actually had to call twice. The first guy did the PM fine (put me on hold forever) but as soon as I gave him the $40 coupon code he did the whole "where did you get this" routine. When I told him it was from a postcard (just a guess) he said that that wasn't the way they issued it and put me on hold forever again (two entire Yanni songs! :Q). I might as well have hung up right there because I knew it was a lost cause. He came back and said that he was putting the order on hold and that I needed to fax in the postcard. Dang.

Second call I got some guy who sounded like he did NOT want to be there... acted all bothered when I said I didn't have an account and he had to put in all my info by hand. His PM took about ten seconds (no problem) and then when I told him I had a coupon he just asked for the number and I told him. He put it in and then said "$40, right?" I said yep and he then asked how I'd be paying. Success! I think he probably knew better but just didn't want the hassle. Thanks man! Your apathy was my hot deal.

I've been really happy with my SCSI 8/2/20, but SCSI is just too expensive for me right now and burnproof negates the buffer underrun aspect of it. Plus, that 2x rewrite speed was just killing me.

Hehe looks like I can unload my 8x on eb@y for ~$150, making this a $50 drive for me. Should be here by next Monday!

Thanks djchemistry for all your help. Also, props to sp1858 for the z-buy idea.

Yo glad you guys all got in on the deal, although I'm a little sore cuz the $40 off coupon wasn't around when I PM'd the drive. LoL...Nothing but love though.

And remember, Staples Is Suck

UGH!!!

I called up twice, the first time they told me they couldn't get through to z-buy.com and today they made me wait on hold while they did the whole pricematch thing, and then finally I get the $40 coupon code through and all then he tells me that they're out of stock.

WTF. Do you think they're just making this crap up?

TekDemon - I'd sy they're blatantly lying to you. When I tried to do a pm yesterday evening, I could clearly hear the supervisor in the background giving instructions to the CSR, including him directing her to "just tell him it's out of stock " after I "cleared" each hurtle they threw at me....

I just tried twice to get this price match, the first time they told me that the $40 coupon was only good if you paid with a Staples credit card and the second one told me that the item at Z-buy was not the same item number as the one that Ingram Micro had. The Ingram 16x model was "faster" than the 16x model at Z-buy.
EDIT-They also mentioned that there was a "MEMO" out about this particular item.
